Following yet another home defeat yesterday, it felt that relegation was really looming as a distinct prospect.

This, of coursed added to my gloom on the way home.

However, a nights sleep and my thoughts turned to how bad would it be if we do get relegated....?

With a decent budget, (surely much higher than the average league 2 budget), a successful and winning team will draw in more full houses at Withdean than a struggling league 1 team.

Good players want to sign for teams who want to be successful (no matter what division)...not losers.

A possible promotion next season would set us up nicely for Falmer with a successful team (aka the consecutive promotions with Micky Adams mk1), and a much better guarantee of higher gates at Falmer.

Seems to me, that higher gates are more based on successful teams rather than what league we,re in...(until we reach the Premiershite of course).

What are others opinions...?

It's a damned northern league, it would cost us dearly.

Possibility of kicking off at Falmer against Acrington? :wrong:
Regular sub-5000 attendances? :wrong:
Pretty much no decent away games? :wrong:

Life would go on but I would be doubtful about manager and key players staying.
Poyet won't go anywhere, he said he came here to build his reputation, walking out from his first job off the back of a relegation is hardly going to look good is it?
Not sure if I'd want him to stay if we do go down though.

Much harder to come up, than to stay up.
Won't affect us though obviously, we'll be OK.

Thanks Greens :(
Financially it wouldn't be a disaster, as the stadium is paid for and there's no interest payments to make, but on a football level it would be. Trying to get out of L2 ain't a cakewalk and interest would wane...:US:

I could tick off about 8 grounds and get very close to doing the 92. Every cloud has a silver lining.

It would be a nightmare. Most of the northern clubs would only bring about 100 fans and the style of football is so direct in League Two - it's the abyss, there's better football played in the Blue Square Premier when i watched it on Setanta.

Who'd want to watch Morecambe on a wet Tuesday night?

Forget that the stadium is "paid" for, if we really have ambitions to be a Championship club, being relegated would cost us in revenue terms especially if we do not bounce straight back. Relegation will mean less money to spend on players wage bills. We would do well to gain Championship status within 5 years from division 2. Fan base will be destroyed once the novelty of Falmer wears off as folk will not pay £25 + to watch forth rate football, yet that sort of admission price will have to stay to cover Falmer running costs. So, in short relegation this season will set this club back so much it could be disastrous.
