I'm Pro-Europe, and the way in which the Ryder Cup team gelled was heartening to see.

In this day and age I feel more in common with our EU cousins than Bush's gun-toting Yanks.

I like that in football we're English (unless we don't get there and we become Irish), in athletics we're Great British and in the Ryder Cup we're European.

In the African Nations Cup, i become Cameroonian while the Copa America sees me as an honorary Bolivian.

It's all nonsense.

It was nice to see the Americans beaten in their own 'backyard' on a course designed exclusively for their better players. The fat that it was by a Europe team has nothing to do with it but it was nice to see Monty and Westwood play massive parts in the victory.

It made me happy - VERY happy. I'm not sure pride is anything to do with it, though. Like when England win something - I'm happy, but it has not effect at all on my relationship with my Englishness. I'm English & happy to be so, British & happy to be so, and European & happy to be so.

Still labouring under the misapprehension that you are NOT European Strike?

I had a nightmare thanks to your post, I went to sleep after your post, and dream't I was wandering around Brighton in the evening, when suddenly I saw you following me, you said behind me " So Strike answer my question that I posted or I will follow you." I just walked away but you kept on following me, I then ran to Hove and you kept on running after me.

Eventully I got away from you, and ran to catch a train at Hove for London Victoria, I went to the first class seats and saw two fit Austrian ladys, I started chatting and flirting with them when suddenly you walked into the carrage, and this conversion happened

AP: So you are flirting with European birds?, why don't you explain about your views on poltics?
STRIKE: "No now get out of this carrage, I am just having fun
AUSTRIAN BIRD1: What are your views Strike?".
STRIKE: Uhm well...
AP: Tell them that you are a Youth MP, that is EU-sceptic, considers himself to be different to you fit girls, as he is not European and you are, and supports UKIP similar to BNP.
STRIKE: Shut up Alan Partridge
AUSTRIAN BIRD2: Its not true, is it?
STRIKE: Most of it is, though...
AP: You see he admits it, EXTREMEIST.
BOTH AUSTRIAN GIRLS: Well we better leave they jump off at that station.
STRIKE: NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO

I then woke up, but I was not sweating I was annoyed.
Why don't you leave me alone Alan Partridge. :jester:

I'm English, and European, and definitely NOT American

In fact I can lay claim to a number of nationalities one way or another, to varying degrees (parents, grandparents etc) but fortunately nothing tar me with being a septic :lolol:

I think you'll find after the last expansion there are now 350 million European Union citizens but a paltry 260 million in the US.

The EU also won more total medals than the US did at the Greek Olympics.

The EU is more succesful than the US. Fact.

I meant the new European countries involved in the Ryder Cup.60m for France,40 odd Spain,60 Britain.Even if you add 80 or so for Germany they still ounumber us.

The fact that we waved European flags makes us look even cooler.England won the Ryder Cup,helped by it's Empire(plus donation from Sp,Fr)!

It still feels good,The Times is writing funny, cracking articles today even."Captain Calamity proves perfect for Europe"(Owen Slot yesterday) being the best.

I was proud to be European as we spanked the arrogant yanks. It should be pointed out though that there were only 3 non GB & Ire players (Sergio, Levet & Jiminez). Captain Langer played a big part too but it wasn't to hard to outsmart the dumbest captain ever - reckon I could have done it easily enough :lolol: :lolol:
I captained our works golf team to a crushing victory against our IT suppliers in May and was disappointed not to be asked to be a vice captain by Langer

The yank players are so arrogant that they still voted Woods the PGA player of the year last when Vijay Singh was without doubt the best by a mile. I expect Blower Mickelson will get it this year despite Vijay proving he's the number 1

Not particulary, because im proud to be european anyway. Winning golf against the yanks doesnt make me feel any more European.

12 golfers from different countries, with different cultures, temperaments and first languages - and led by a German - won largely due to team spirit, support and comradeship.

Don't you find that kinda inspirational?
