Do we really want to keep Gifton?

Gifton didnt give a shit yesterday and to be fair not many of the team looked as if they did so you cant put any extra blame on him for yesterday. The games hes been here theres no doubt he has made a difference and is the type of player weve needed. We wont be able to afford him anyway so this whole thread as well as what ive posted is totally irrelevant. :p

I couldnt see the point in playing him yesterday. His record as a goal scorer is not prolific but he holds the ball up well.

Did you see Rory Fallon on tele for Swansea he won every ball in the air and scored 2 gaols and only cost them £350k which had that been to us would have probably kept us up and saved £1.5m.

What might have been!!!

Why would he come here over Swansea? I cant see one reason why he would want to do that.

We apparently tried to sign him but said that he was overpriced at £350k. I would have offered LK + cash for him as he would have been a good foil for CKR.

That still dont change the fact he would not have came here!

We will never know whether he would have wanted to go to a side IN the Championship and possibly going to finish just under half way, if he had been a success by scoring goals or one HOPING to get into the Championship.

I'm sure better wages and a better ground had something to do with it too :)

I would agree with the wages but you would probably know better does the fact of the ground seriously have an effect on the players decision as they only play on it for 90 minutes every fortnight?

It must do, im not a player but if i had the chance to play in a 25k capcity stadium i would rather go there than an athletic's track. I think the ground is obviously a huge stumbling block when signing players.

We were never ever going to finish just under half-way in this league. The best we were ever going to hope for in the league was a relegation dog-fight.

Of course it is, not saying every player would have a problem with it, but they would probably opt for the big stadium every time given the choice, its just one of those things.

The Stoke players knew GNW's game inside out and they exploited that yesterday - that is all.

Of course we need him.

Sadly, the power struggle at the club seems to be screwing up our chance of signing anyone at the moment, even our own players, never mind Burnley's :nono: :nono: :nono:

After the first game of the season we were above Reading, shame it went downhill for the next 45

I think our policy of signing players is completely wrong, we should start trying to sign athletes instead of footballers, that way our current ground wouldn't be a problem, in fact it would be a positive selling point. All we would then need is coaching staff to convert whoever we did sign into a footballer.

The only problem I could see would be MMs love of playing players out of position, I can just see the comments on here "how can you play a hurdler at left back", "the shot-putter should be in central midfield, he is never a winger", there is just no pleasing some folk.

Funny how a few weeks ago we were all worshiping the ground he walked on.

Not a great performance from him yesterday, but to be honest i didnt realy expect too much from him once we were relegated.

I do have worries over his fitness, especialy after hearing this stuff about arthritis, but i think he could do a job in League 1.However we shouldnt be held to ransom as better options may become available.

Never worshipped him. A few people on this site may have done but not the majority of people.

I'd take him if we couldn't get better - and I'd be suprised if we could. That said, he didn't look like a player with any interest of having a future with the club yesterday. Perhaps a new manager will like the look of Turienzo enough to give him a go.
