Fundamentally we are a product of our childhood and formative years, mixed with our natural personalities.

Learned experiences can shape our behaviour patterns though, as can older age and slowing down generally - which also makes us less tolerant.

However, the conclusion is "Once a Twunt, always a Twunt" - so the answer is 'No'.

Have I passed basic psychology? ???

As the saying goes ...
Some things never change.

As people, yes, of course we change!
Tastes & preferences like food, drink, music, holidays, jobs, responsibilities, activities, interests, aspirations, etc. all change as we age (mature).

But the way we think; beliefs, politics, etc less so.

Definitely. Two examples.

I know school kids who were relaxed, had an untidy bedroom, didn’t want to work part time. Berated by the control freak parent or parents for all of that. Once fully independent, hard working and tidy. But all in their own time.

In poisonous work environments folk encouraged by narcissistic bosses to bitch and backstab colleagues. Not nice behaviour by anyone. Freed from that, they became nice people. I’ve seen this several times.

Although on the last point, I think most of us become a little less idealistic, less radical and more pragmatic in our outlook as we get older.

People adapt rather than change although life changing situations do change attitudes.

I still find farts funny. Whenever I think of the one I let off in assembly I still chuckle. It was worth the detention.
