Deepest, darkest Sussex
I love the smell of a new defender in the morning

Interesting question.

Usually, our well publicised interest attracts the attention of other clubs, who have no transfer strategy more sophisticated than gazumping us.

My guess is that on the surface, his underlying stats don't look that impressive. But maybe we've looked deeper, he's a player we think we can improve and other teams haven't seen that
Like Cashin 👍

We scored twice against Spurs from corners so I suppose that’s a start.
Set pieces will change as well next season you'd think.

O'Riley will likely leave, Estupinan possibly. Gruda probably won't be on the pitch enough. None of the 6 or 7 nailed on regular starters have a history of taking them.

Yet another thing FH will be mulling over

The difference it makes when the delivery is consistently dangerous, I was very impressed with Gruda's set pieces the last couple of games. Corners were the weakest part of Pascal's game IMO and corner delivery from Pervis, Minteh, Karou and Ayari had been pretty meh this season.
Corner delivery needs to be Gruda, Solly or Lamptey.

I guarantee that there’s something in Cashin’s makeup that will fit this team like a glove - we wouldn’t have spent 10m otherwise. I can’t see what it is, but maybe it requires him to play on the left of a 3-man defence of something 🤷‍♂️

Well, he's come on the market now the transfer window is open. In previous transfer windows he wasn't as good as he is now. So there is now a high quality CB on the market that there wasn't before :p

Look I don't know, but again everyone is very confidently saying he will stay, but I find it very hard to look past our history of sales, the nature of football, and the difficulty of keeping that kind of quality young international player in an upper-mid-table team without European football, in what will be his third full season as a starting player. And we have gone out and signed two starting centre backs already this summer.

I would love to keep him, obviously.
Im not confident we'll keep him but I'm not confident we'll sell him either.

As I said in an earlier post I am confident we won't sell all 4 of our big hitters, just one, maybe two. The other three all have their known admirers and one seems almost definitely to be leaving.

So for those reasons along with the possible/likely sales of other squad players I don't think we can say he's definitely off. I think it's more likely he'll still be with us than not. Next summer however, maybe not.

I’ve watched everything I can. He’s not slow. He gets around the pitch really well.

Cant help but feel that these extra CBs could mean selling Webster for decent money to Potter, which would be a shame based on his form.

I think you could be right, and I think the thing that would/could possibly upset NSC as it won’t be for that much either, as he is not the finished article.

He is a great player no doubt, but I don’t think his stock is as high as we all think, similar with Joao Pedro.

Hopefully, he’ll stay at least another season or so, because he is still learning, and there is room for improvement. Then we’ll get quite a bit more I would suggest.
