Anyone know why he's so cheap ?

His stats you would think should be at least 15-20m
Interesting question.

Usually, our well publicised interest attracts the attention of other clubs, who have no transfer strategy more sophisticated than gazumping us.

My guess is that on the surface, his underlying stats don't look that impressive. But maybe we've looked deeper, he's a player we think we can improve and other teams haven't seen that

Zabarnyi going to PSG. Lots of rumours about Semenyo, but Bournemouth will fight to keep him and Kluivert.

Can't see Baleba being sold just yet, and I'm sure selling Pedro was never a plan until the last couple of months.

There's no real difference between the two options in your first sentence  Everyone is on the market if the price is right, and the market is always open.
Oof, that'll be tough on bournemouth. A real test of their forward planning and resilience.

My first sentence was in response to you saying:

Cbs of that quality don't often come on the market.

To me that reads like this window is a special opportunity to get him. Not he's as available now as he was in every window we've had him and will be all the time he's with us.

If there's nothing special about this window then there's no reason to worry unduly imo. Apart from the pots curse of course...

That feels like a superb signing. A perfect partner for PVH allowing Dunk and Webster to be very able back ups.
Don't write Dunky off too prematurely, he was constrained by a hip injury towards the end of last season, we played him because we had no choice.

I've a feeling he will bw ready and raring to go for the new season, keen to hold on to that starting place. Coppola is still very young, plenty of time for him to work his way into the side.

Well, he's come on the market now the transfer window is open. In previous transfer windows he wasn't as good as he is now. So there is now a high quality CB on the market that there wasn't before :p

Look I don't know, but again everyone is very confidently saying he will stay, but I find it very hard to look past our history of sales, the nature of football, and the difficulty of keeping that kind of quality young international player in an upper-mid-table team without European football, in what will be his third full season as a starting player. And we have gone out and signed two starting centre backs already this summer.

I would love to keep him, obviously.

We hope he’s not for a loaner,
We all know it'll be "he came from Italy / to Sussex by the Sea" by the time the song butchers in the North Stand get hold of it.

So we’re now looking at underlying underlying stats? Guess you’ve gotta stay ahead of curve somehow.

Yeh. Well half the chumps on here will find set of metrics off a public site which they can select to back up whatever point they think they've got.

And of course competitor clubs to us will have their own data sets and teams of analysts.

None of those looked at Coppola's stats and marked his out as an outstanding talent, hence the apparent low fee and no obvious attempt to gazump us.

But my guess is that its because we've got more detail than our competitor clubs and miles more detail than that which is publicly available and because of that detail, we felt we were able to disregard the apparent reasons not to sign him which kept his price low

It worked with Cashin.
