Worthing
Remember the "even more crazy money" starts in the premiership next year, so to acquire one of the special ones(Messi etc) at £500,000 per week is now in sight. For the global franchise that is MUFC to dominate Europe for the next 5 years (worth 100's of millions) I don't think they can afford not to.

They still havent signed a player that either Bayern, Real, or Barca, would want in a very long time, and City and Chelsea both out spend them domestically. I hear what you are saying about the obscene TV money next season, but Utd seem to have to over pay for players, and they still don't get the best, and their owners are far more likely to milk the club for cash than any of the mentioned clubs owners.
I really think the red mancs are on the slide now, and won't be able to turn it round unless they are sold to someone who will spend massive amounts
