I went to University at the age of 26 after serving in the forces so not your usual workshy teenager. I use about 1% of what I learnt on my course. Unfortunately in IT to move up the ladder the degree title is more important than the stuff you learn.

And I learnt more about life in the forces than I ever learnt at Uni. Still it was a laugh to get some of my own tax back :lolol:

I spent time in the forces then went to Uni, I did an Engineering degree as it's impossible to get a decent job in Engineering without one. I then spoilt it all by joining the darkside (management) and getting an MBA, which to be honest was a piece of piss (if you have the time most people could do it) but it does look good on the CV.
I did my degrees because I needed to, not because i wanted too.

Yep - learnt plenty. I certainly couldn't be doing my job now if I hadnt, but that's irrelevant, to some extent. It was the enjoyment of study which led me into my job - not the desire to do the job which led me to doing a degree.

It helped that I didn't go at 18; I took a few years out, which was a damn good idea. The reason was that I learnt nothing - and I mean nothing - at school and despised the idea of education and learning by the time I left. I came independently to the love of learning later, and then went on to uni. What I particularly loved about uni was because it was all about learning, as opposed to being taught.

Now I've worked with you and this mystify me - responsibilities, time management not words I would associate with you. You were always late for work and skiving off.
Now you are going to have to work out who I am but I used to work in Reading near the station!!!

How are you Kev?

I'm studying for a Masters at the mo, paid for by work and I get a week's residential for a week for each module. So, I get to play at being a student for a week, without being poor!!
