With out the great man we would not be in the position we are on now watching the class players we have on show at the moment.

Would love to see a statue of the great man him self Around the ground what does everyone else think

Not strictly true.

We would be nowhere with out TB hard cash and probably doing a Pompey and asking the fans to dig deep and still be at the withers.

Statue of Sir Tony Bloom please.

Dick has got his bar.

Not the real one
Cash talks but so does sheer determination. I think it's safe to say they go hand in hand. Agree that DK statue is needed, give it to him before he dies. I mean people always wait until a person is dead to get a statue. Give DK a statue now and then a few more years after massive service to the club, a TB statue. Then with Champions league and the triple league and cup success, give Poyet one too.

Well actually it is strictly true. Without Bloom we would almost certainly not have the fantastic stadium and squad we have today. However it was DK who kept the club going after we were robbed of the Goldstone, who bought us back to Brighton from Gillingham, who led the battle for planning permission at Falmer, and who managed shepherd our meagre resources to three promotions while at Withdean. Without that Bloom wouldn't have been able to do the brilliant things he has.

Oh but no statue please. They're always a bit crap aren't they.

Without Dick Knight there might have been no club for TB to take on. Both men deserve our gratitude.

I think a 'bust' in Dicks Bar or the club shop is more appropriate.

Many forget how near the Albion were to oblivion before Dick stepped in.

Definitely.

Where would we be without Tony Bloom? "In serious trouble..."

Where would we be without Dick Knight? "We wouldn't have a club to be in serious trouble..."

I sort of agree with Voroshilov about the no statue of Dick Knight (or any individual for that matter). If - IF - there had to be a statue (and of course, there doesn't have to be one at all), I would rather it was a symbolic piece of art - representing, say, a soaring seagull or... something.

This is right of course. Any attempt to put Tony Bloom and Dick Knight in some sort of merit order is like trying to do the same with the wheels on a car.

100% agree with this. No DK = no BHA, end of.

That said, statue, a bit old fashioned perhaps. I think something inside the stadium, in view of the pitch, not sure what, but it would have to be Brighton, it would have to be different.

Just far enough away from LDC
Tony Bloom has gone on record as saying that he didnt have the money to invest to the level he has now either at the time the club needed to be bought from Archer, returned to Brighton or indeed when planning permission was first granted by John Prescott.

So you have to say that the person who received the ball having tackled the onrushing opposition, dribbled it out of defence, through the midfield and who had his shot blocked before it was neatly tucked away by the gifted star striker should earn as much credit as is necessary.

Albeit that to some on NSC, Dick Knight is Ashely Barnes and nomatter what he did, he would never received the credit due to him.

I agree, statues are crass, but Dick deserves more than a bar named after him, I think a better lasting tribute to him, should be the naming of one of the stands.

How about "The Dick Knight North Stand". Thats where the Brighton spirit starts every game.

To me Dick will always be an Albion Legend
