Great to see the Batti man back at the Albion. Hope he can get his career back on track.

6 wins in a row is a good sign

Where else are the likes of Dunk and Lua Lua going to get game time?

Ince might flirt with first team in future, March much like JFC surely will too. Barker is a solid player but think more L2-L1 but will have a long and successful career somewhere

I'm trying to work out what it is you're actually moaning about.
Dont you worry your little head matey, too complex a statement obviously, I am sorry I dont warrant a sensible reply because I am not part of your NSC inner sanctum, and sorry again for possibly offering a marginally negative view of our 'development' record with the famed DS.

Having said that, I am not sorry.

Is he moaning that the Icelandic midfielder that we signed (Aged 18) for the development squad hasn't broken through to the first team yet?
....and right on cue, another of the famous NSC Inner Sanctum,.... over 80.000 posts between you, phew!!!,... heady stuff.

A simple question then,.. as I feel there is little or no progress from within the DS of the players signed from various clubs and countries in recent years, do you feel that the club are getting value from this system? ( other than as a warm up platform for new or recovering senior players)

Notwithstanding the utter puerility of that post, I don't think you have a clue what you're moaning about either.

Well done.

What should the players that aren't making the first team squad do with their time then? Sit on their arses not playing games?

As I see it the development squad is made up of first team squad players who aren't currently getting it the side plus the younger players that are being brought through. We've been lucky enough to bring in ex England internationals and players that played for sides like Valencia this season so the younger ones aren't getting their chance quite yet. It's not a 'black hole' as you put it, it's there for a reason. Or would you rather that when we need a centre back to come in to the side it's Lewis Dunk who might not have played a competitive game for a month?

I would rather it be what it says on the tin supposedly, somewhere that brings players on to be included in the 1st team as soon as is possible. Barker and Toby have been knocking goals in for fun over the last two years, the odd unused bench appearance isnt going to help them really is it. JFC has had a decent selection of games for a youngster, but why pop him in and out, if he is good enough, keep him involved, if not, sell him on. Toby is not a youngster anymore, nearly 22, Norway U21, if he isnt good enough, let him move on, he would surely be in the squad more regularly by now if he had what it takes. Is it the coaching?

Hmmm. JFC or Vicente? Or Lopez? Or Orlandi? Or Bridcutt? Or Hammond? Where's he going to play?

Yes he's a good player but is he good enough (yet) to play in a side pushing for the Premiership? Probably not. Does it mean we should 'sell him on'? No.

Not as starters no, but on the bench being given a bit of involvement and experience at least, and some minutes.

This stage of the season is too tense to start, but earlier in the year.

Lopez, Dobbie and Orlandi were on the bench loads at the beginning of the season wasn't it a bit more important to give them game time? And one of Crofts or Hammond would have been on there, and one of Buckley or Lua, and possibly Hoskins. Should we have not started taking the league seriously till Christmas?

A question...why does the Development Squad play against lower league opposition? If we want our young players to break through into the first team squad we need them to playing their equivilant from the Championship or the Premier League.

I think it's to do with the status of our academy last year when they created the new development league

Can I add my post count to your collection (not that I know anyone on here or can lay claim to being part of any clique) but as so often you are just creating argument for the sake of it.
From your post history it is pretty reasonable to surmise that had the youngsters been blooded earlier in the season then they/Gus Poyet/the club would have been to blame for us not being top of the league whereas now you can safely say they cant be risked (despite having damn near said the opposite earlier in the thread). You are simply arguing for the sake of it. You rarely if ever have anything positive to say about the club (not at all the same as "criticism" constructive or otherwise) and are frankly becoming something of a boor to be sidelined along with the likes of Withdean Wanderer as being essentially pointless because of your all pervading and wholly overiding sniping at every aspect of the club.

And before you say it..........of course you have the right to say whatever you want........ and I have the right to ignore it or to comment on it

FWIW I think the S has been a victim of the speed of our growth. In three years we have gone from lower league strugglers to Championship challengers - progress that could never be made relying on home grown talent. As we reach our optimum place in the football hierarchy and establish ourselves at the upper end of this league and probably at best the lower half of the EPL the development squad will be able to stabilise and bring through players able to function at that level. New facilities will be important but more important is the level we play at because it governs the talent we can attract and retain in a competitive market place

Well there you have it then.... if your approach is continued, and it will of course, then the DS squad is not providing that value it is supposed to.

I would like it to move players into a position where they can support the first team.... Again I ask, if players are not progressing, is it down to the recruitment and coaching, or do you think the manager just prefers established senior buys?......

I would hope the manager would prefer to options of Bridge, Upson, Ulloa, Lopez ahead of JFC, Toby, Barker etc wouldn't you?
