If he is at the ground I think he will be ok to bat.
But, If Joyce had been in Derby and able to bat, we might be 328-5 and looking good. Strange that the captain of all people was not with his team ? Any rumours doing the rounds ?

I have just read a few reports and not one mention of Joyce. I have been working, will he bat tomorrow.

It certainly is odd.. perhaps it is something either very personal or legal??

Well... we will find out soon enough... can't see Monty lasting too long this morning!

Maybe I spoke too soon... as Monty SMASHES a four back over Footitt's head... and moves on to 10!

No.. Monty out lobbing a catch to leg slip... 341-9

Ed Joyce comes to the crease... 'missing yesterday due to personal reasons' according to the dynamic duo on BBC Radio Derby.

I see Joyce has assumed his rightful position in the batting order. No more than a rabbit in the headlights of these Derbyshire bowlers.

373-9 (80 overs)

Yardy 141* Joyce 11*

Lead by 150.

Maybe just have a THRASH to try and reach 400 and get the batting point... and get Derby in before lunch?

Is this REALLY Sussex we are talking about??

Sussex are wise to bat on. Derbyshire will have sussed out our bowling and second time around are sure to post 300 in 40 overs, leaving us an impossible target of 125 in the fourth innings. Looks like being a long coach journey back this weekend :(

Clever bowling from Derbyshire, allowing Joyce just the 15 runs off that over - meaning they get a chance to splatter Yardy's stumps now that he is past 150 and obviously doesn't care anymore.
