No, it's probably a rolling contract type situation now where he can walk away (or be asked to go) at any point after the original contract. He keeps working but effectively on a day to day basis.

That's apparently the way he likes to work and is rumoured to be the sticking point. Basically "I'll commit for a year and we'll see how it goes after that...."
