Oh yes, I totally agree about Froome but that probably holds for pretty much all of the guys at the top (Lemond excluded, of course, he's just am all round legend!).
His achievements are amazing, certainly Britain's greatest ever cyclist. Was just making a quip about the "lordship"!

Women's road race today. Good chance for Lizzie to do it. BBC coverage getting under way now.
Year on year it's the same when the World's come around.
I watch the peloton and only one thought crosses my mind:-

So the men are riding this exact same course tomorrow then, but only more laps of it? If so, might be hard to drop some of the tougher sprinters than first thought. Poor Lizzie made all the right moves, instigating what should have been the winning move at the 4km mark when 4 strong riders went away. They perhaps didn't commit to it enough though and once the chase group got back on with 1/2 a km to go it was game over for Lizzie
As she said, race not hard enough to benefit her.
I think the GVA shout SB mentioned could be the best bet, odds wise, for tomorrow. Shame Cance isn't longer odds as he's bound to podium I'd say. I don't really care who wins so long as it's not Gerrans, but he is looking favourite. I'd love it if Bouhanni and Kristoff could survive and go head to head, but I doubt either are strong enough at the moment.

If the possible winner could be a sprinter, rouleur or climber, making Gerrans favourite is the easy option.

Yep, thought you'd be mentioning your mate Ram Nav. Could be a good shout, but I'm with you, too much of a lottery really this race. I'll be keeping my powder dry again I think as I have done for a while now. Might have a bash at Lombardy for a last of the season effort, but that's about it. Sticking with what I have and hit it again at next years TDU hopefully.

My shimano 105 10 speed is only finding 9 gears. I've been tweaking for hours by it either goes gears 1 to 9, or 2 to 10 depending on the tension. It's not the limiting screws as I've loosed them and as said I can find all the gears - just not at the same time!.
The cable isn't that old, but the housing is probably from new and done 3000 miles. It's a fraction of a turn of tension that changes it from going 1 to 9 rather than 2 to 10. It nearly got there at one point and was trying to change into the final gear but just wouldn't go.
Not really sure what else to do other than change the cable and housing?

Well it wouldn't do any harm to change the cables and outers front and back. Fairly cheap and very easy to do. (edit: not sure how easy it is on internally cable routed bikes though). I've sprayed lithium grease on my cables when I've changed them to make sure they run smooth.
Either that or start fettling again from scratch and throw a few more hours and fecks into it - I've done that too.

As I say, I don't care who wins so long as it's not Gerrans. Anyway, I can see not enough teams making it hard enough and it being a big bunch sprint anyway - in which case I'd like Bouhanni or the German pornstar to win, or Kristoff.

I love this 'lap'. Especially, that swooping descent with 2km to finish line. I'd certainly take my brain out before descending.
Agree about the Belgian shirt.
Yesterday my riding partner took more turns leading. He really took me out of my comfort zone. Spent the rest of the day hoping a poorly kitten didn't pick a fight with me. Had the best night's sleep in yonks.

I had to go back and study the startlist again, convinced that in such a lottery there must be a long shot worth a small e/w in there somewhere.
The upshot being I've put 50p e/w on Sonny Colbrelli - the only Italian sprinter, chosen for if they and other teams haven't made it hard enough. He's in good form, has a point to prove, left ToB early for more prep in which time he took several victories in some Italian races, the course just seems too easy to drop all sprinters, and, and here's the clincher folks!... he got the nod over Pozatto in anticipation of rain....what could possibly go wrong!?

He can't drop degenkolb and kristoff sufficiently on the climb to maint6thr gap on the descent.
GB backing swift who'll finish somewhere should the top 10 but I can't see how he can win it unless he gets in a very lucky break.
Can you imagine the crowd if this was in Britain.
