Dare I say it as it sounds ridiculous really, but even if Mac A has hit all his addons and we've got the full £55m, still seems a bargain given what a vital cog he's been in winning a title. Not that I enjoy watching Liverpool, but he is still a joy to watch.

I’d be surprised if Mac hasn’t triggered all add ons with Liverpool winning the title this year, and him playing a high %age of minutes over the last 2 seasons. But yes, in terms of modern-day transfers, 55m was a good deal for them.

On the other hand, we did very well getting 115m and 25m out off Chelsea for Caicedo and Sanchez respectively.

How were they lucky ? they won both games against us comfortably, hammered Villa in the Semis , played Fulham off the park in the quarter final , we have had 2 big opportunities this season and fluffed our lines on both occasions, firstly at home to Southampton and they played us off the park in the second half , victory would of taken us to second place and looking good , instead went on a long winless streak of games that lasted until the New Year, then the quarter final against Forest , where we only went for it , in the second half of extra time , and was a very subdued performance for a quarter final, this resulted in another run of poor performances and another winless run of games .
Palace took their chance we didn’t as per normal

Personally I think TB has done his bit by sticking in £400m so it’s now up to us supporters to do our bit by remortgaging houses if we have them, take out payday loans if we don’t and put the money into buying a couple of players who look decent on Football Manager in the hope of winning the Rumbelows Cup next season.

Anyone who isn’t willing to do this has no right to call themselves a fan IMO.

No, but Parish has form for forcing players to stay, who want away, because the club can't afford to lose them.

We don't because we know we can replace practically anyone, thanks to Tony's data.
Palace have got by with Freedman's nose for a player, for a good while. But he's gone now.

I don’t think we are at crossroads at all this season was always a massive ask given the number of squad rotations and a new young manager learning his trade in one of the most brutal leagues in the world. As with the previous summer we lost key experienced players who are central to what we do and the replacements have been on a huge learning curve at this level. Despite all of this we are in the top ten which could easily have been top 6 if we had some better game management and were a penalty shoot out away from an FA cup semi final. That alone makes me very optimistic about the potential for next season.

Key for me this summer is we simply have to retain our best players and we have to support a very young squad by bringing in some ready made experience that can play alongside these young players and help them learn how to manage games at this level. There are also too many players in the squad who it is clear cannot be relied on as credible options due to repeated injuries which we have suffered from this season.

If we can tweak those things in the summer I am confident we can have a credible tilt at the top 6 but if we sell all the family silver and sign another 4 prospects at the cost of an experienced addition I will start to wonder if we are a club with winning ambitions or a player farm.

Some on here suddenly think Palace are run brilliantly. They got lucky winning a cup. They have never got to 50 points in a PL season and will never qualify for Europe on league position.
We will continue to finish them in the league for most seasons and will win a cup one day.
