[Albion] Crossroads?!

We didn’t exactly pay the price for it did we. We finished 11th, that’s hardly a disastrous season. Disappointing maybe but we will have many more seasons like that.

TB will not risk the future of the club by throwing everything at winning something immediately (which isn’t guaranteed no matter how much money is spent).
So you want us to be a bridesmaid, never the bride?!

Fair enough I guess.....

Like the previous reply, the past stays in the past.

Feel like a lot clubs are catching us or doing things slightly different, the scum have found a manager in Glasner who won the Europa League with Frankfurt (luckily against Rangers on penalties may I add)

Now done something (somewhat luckily) through out the whole tournament and won it, is he a proven winner whatever way you look at it.

Are we close to winning a major trophy? Not really no, we have got to two semi finals and never got over the line.

RDZ tried to do things his own way and look how that ended up?!
Two semis….so quite close then
RDZ would have been happy to bankrupt the club with overpaid 🔔 ends

Swindon, but used to be Manila
When in the Falklands we used to call the locals Bennys........then we were ordered not to call them Bennys so the name was changed to Stills.........
RAF seniors were upset and asked why they were called stills .....................Answer they were still Bennys...

So throwing money at it is guaranteed to get us a trophy is it?

We’ve done quite well on the back of TBs plan so far. I’ll take that all day long over a plan that isn’t guaranteed to get us anywhere.

They had a decent firm back in the day.

Let's not get carried away.

Palace will likely lose half their squad next season, or the season after and could well end up falling down the table again (they're still 'down' in 12th now).

Granted they have a major trophy, you can never take away from them, so fair play to them on that front. No matter how they won and they got over the line.

Hopefully Bloom and the players use this as motivation.

With all that being said, we're doing fine.

The nether regions of the football pyramid are full of clubs who "reacted" to stuff and tried to take ill informed expensive short cuts. Today is really horrible but I don't think we should let it change our focus. There are other clubs in the EPL who haven't won the FA cup, Fulham, Brentford, Plucky. There's a bigger picture here and I think we are on the right path.

Yes, I'm sure a bloke who became a billionaire through shrewd business dealings and holding his nerve will now be thinking "f***, a football team we only have a rivalry with because of a series of events in the 1970s have won the FA Cup, I better go mad and spend loads of money to desperately win a trophy'

And the winner for the most ridiculous over reaction of the day goes to...

No not the Band of Brothers episode, this is a genuine concern.

We know our model, that is to develop youngsters and sell them on for profit. We have done that since we got to Premier League, we know Tony Bloom wont take the gamble and spend within our means.

But now after today, a living nightmare for most of us (there some of us on here who are not even thinking this effects us)

124 years of not winning a major trophy, something those c**** have now got hanging over us.

Are we going have to shit and bust next season ad beyond, to get over the line?

Remember next season the league will be tougher, Leeds will spend. Burnley I am not entirely sure they will, but can they afford another relegation?

Sunderland or Sheffield United to join them, but we know The Blades record in this league. But if Sunderland get promoted, with a ambitious young owner at the helm this league could get extremely tougher.

Do we change our model, or go shit and bust for a major trophy?!
Difficult to picture any fan of this club in particular would extol the idea of shit or bust over sustainability as a business model.

We’ve been in the PL 8 seasons, 2 FA Cup semi finals, going to pens in one, 1 1/4 final out on pens, knockout stages of Europa League, 4 seasons of top half finishes.

There is absolutely no reason to think a trophy isn’t achieveable with the progress the club has been making.
