Crawley sack Barker

Over the summer, I was told that Barker loves living down here and that he didn't see football management as a secure long term job. Apparently teaching is his fall back, should things fail to work out. So the possibility exists that a short shift aboard the sinking ship HMS Pompey, could be followed by "Good Morning Mr Bear, Sir" in a secondary school near you.

This post is bought to you by unsubstantiated gossip - a top internet sauce

Hope Richie does get the Pompey job, great guy and lovely wife and kids who are Brightonians, hence he loves living down here...Not sure where you're getting the teaching 'rumour' from??!

I told him when he got the Crawley job its going to be really difficult for me to wish him 'that' well...delighted he's left (if he's got the pompey job..!)

Can understand him wanting to trade in Crawley for Portsmouth.

Portsmouth should be doing much better than they are with the squad they have while Crawley will find it difficult to go any higher than they are now.

Well l think you have answered your own question! Portsmouth, although currently struggling in League Two, are a much bigger club than Crawley, and with much greater potential, a few seasons down the line it could be Crawley who are struggling while Pompey are on the up.

Everyone knows that Pompey is a massive step up from Crawley. Even Luton would be a step up from that lot and that's a fact!

What a strange move by Crawley. There is no way they can be sacking him for poor performance, as if they were unhappy with him they would surely have held on to see if Portsmouth wanted to pay compensation for him. Similarly, if they are sacking him because he's been talking to Portsmouth or putting himself in the frame while still contracted to them (which is probably more likely), they still should have waited in order to get the compensation.

Getting money out of Portsmouth FC? Good luck with that ???

And get Xp in the pound after the next administration?
