Why did CMS take the first pen, let alone the 2nd?

I don't know if it was because Barnes missed his last one, or if it was a case of "Barnes scored in the last game, whereas CMS needs a goal to get his momentum back".

I'm assuming he took the second because it was a chance of a hat-trick.
