They have the opportunity to bowl first if they want to in order to stop teams producing a poor wicket suited to their bowls and gambling on winning the toss. If the away team wants to bat first, it goes to the normal toss.

You make your own luck but being the away team in these conditions (i.e. when no advantage in being able to bowl first) was not lucky. Then you go 50/50 at the toss and lose out on that too..

We have almost no chance of winning. Best hope is to stick in there, try and stop them scoring too quickly and then bat big ourselves and retain our unbeaten status in the Championship.
