Coffee shop culture - how long do you spend in Costa etc ?

I will pop in and grab a coffee/hot chocolate every now and then. rarely stay unless I am waiting for my brother in law and his family (he always insists on meeting in Starbucks)

Bearing in mind coffee drinkers drink more coffee per head in Brighton than anywhere else in the UK, that list of choice is pitiably small. There are over 20 places to buy coffee in Trafalgar Street alone - and none are on that list.
As someone who (a) likes coffee and (b) prefers to shop in independent shops, I tend to head for somewhere like Small Batch.

They do lack a certain something
Waitrose freebie latte, with some toast or a tea-cake EVERY working day.
Often lunchtimes at small(ish) chain Coffee@#1 - there's four around here, and they are pretty good.

Wife and I love the Frappacino cold coffees and Starbucks win hands down and the worst in our joint opinion is Cafe Nero as even McDonald ones are far better at half the price.

Not too keen on the food in Costa. I do wonder how long the ambient cakes sit there for. What I do like is the goats cheese and beetroot panini. It goes great with a latte

Best coffee house in Brighton is the Red Roaster in my opinion. Of the chains, i find Coffee Republic is the best. I like small batch but no wi-fi in this day and age?

A shopping trip to Horsham usually commences with a visit to the 1st floor of Waterstones, where the local branch of the Santa Fe Coffee Company resides. Their cappuccino is more than passable, and they also sell an excellent range of sweet and savoury delights.
One also has the option of choosing a book off the Waterstone's bookshelf, reading it while drinking one's coffee, then replacing it upon leaving!

MacDonald's is the best mouthful per pence taste for coffee. The Amex is by far the worst.
