So before he probably earned close to minimum wage yet he's shown in the series how important it is for a farm to have a good farm hand that knows how to use equipment, dangerous equipment that most of us wouldn't have a clue how to operate, along side some great animal husbandry, yet you begrudge him having a holiday a few miles away in Cornwall ?? Every farm needs a Kaleb and a Charlie but sadly most can't afford them.
Let’s not forget the importance of a good NFU Rep to support you….

Thoroughly enjoyed series 3. Sorry if this question has previously been asked but when did Jack Albion first appear as Caleb?

Finished season 3 last night. Wonderful stuff, and Gerald's toast at the end made me shed a tear

We watched the first 3 episodes of the new series last night. Entertaining and at times educational about modern day farming and the hardships independent farmers face. Too much of episode 3 looking at run down and closed pubs to buy. But, there is apparently a 'Clarkson Effect' according to Waitrose....https://www.thetimes.com/life-style/food-drink/article/clarksons-farm-british-produce-n3rjs5txw

Watched Episode 1 and 2 tonight. Yes contrived and scripted in parts but also brings to the front key issues like mental health in young farmers, the ridiculous red tape closing down abbatoir's and the utter wankfest that is the subsidies for farming. I wouldn't be aware of any of these things without CF

As an aside, that 'Kaleb on Tour' looked complete and utter shite.

Your judgement is sound.

I watched one of Kaleb's stand-up shows on the Firestick a few months ago (well, about half an hour of it). It was absolutely DISMAL, complete and utter dreck. If I'd actually paid to turn up in a theatre to watch that shite, I'd have gone apeshit. About as funny as a burning orphanage. He's clearly believed too much of his own hype, or the people around him have.

However. Clarkson's Farm remains one of the finest shows on television IMO. I've watched the first 2 episodes of S4. Harriet is a force of nature and a total delight, and I have now actually seen my first ever pigs clitoris.

Beats Antiques Roadshow.

Agree with all of the above, i’m upto date and awaiting the next two this Friday, i didn’t realise that as well as working her fathers farm Harriet is a full time Nurse!!

Os i gave one of those Kaleb shows a go on Amazon and switched off when he drove on on the child’s tractor, however it will always be popular all the time the same type of people head to the Farm Shop at Chipping Norton each weekend and line up for a week to buy some Honey and a caravan burger

I just don't understand the mentality of people who look at that advertised as a live show and think 'ooh i'll have a piece of that at £50 a pop' then sit there with an inane grin on their faces lapping it up.

I love Caleb in the context of him on CF and his messaging about young farmers but not in any other capacity which is just designed to milk money out of people.

As an aside or maybe as a very relevant contribution I’m not sure but….

A farmer in Northamptonshire was the latest to be killed on his farm last week. 34 people lost their lives in farming-related accidents during the 2023-24 period and the number is on course to be even higher in 2025.

Despite employing fewer than 1% of the UK workforce, agriculture continues to account for about 20% of all workplace fatalities, making it statistically by far the most dangerous industry in the country. The exceptionally high suicide rate has accelerated this year also.

A industry campaign to reduce work place accidents on farm has been titled ‘stop the killing fields’.

Food does not come cheap, financially or otherwise.

I have watched all episodes with one of my 14 year old daughters and we both love it. Yes some of it is contrived but it contains lots of good messages. My daughter loves the new girl (who is great). Charlie is my hero - he reminds me of a younger version of my uncle who farmed on the fens in Lincolnshire until he retired and gave his farm to my cousin.

Growing up in a farming village spending lots of time on farms in south Devon with lots of friends as farmers and spent lots of time on my cousin’s farm growing up (they are luckily the wealthy farmers so amazing house/pool/tennis etc) it is a fascinating watch.

If he has promoted farming, how do we measure the outcome? What are the benefits he has created?

Or is this like promoting LGBT+, i.e., making people aware of it and aware that it's OK?

People are now aware of farming and recognize that it's OK? Hooray!

Does this mean Clarkson deserves a knighthood, or even a peerage, for services to farming?

And I sneer this as someone who, at the time, very much enjoyed Top Gear, even the way Clarkson bullied the faux hippy and the tiny man (who, let's be honest, deserved it. And they were paid very well). Clarkson wrote the liner notes for a Caravan (the band) CD of mine. But it all.....eventually.....went wrong.

And now he's a farmer. Oh well. Never mind.
For once I am in almost total disagreement with your overall view. I absolutely love this show and I really enjoy Clarkson. Sure, he clearly had c**t flu at the end of Top Gear (wonderful diagnosis I picked up from the 4 th season), however, this show has most definitely rehabilitated him in my eyes. With this show, he has certainly brought the plight of farmers into the loung rooms of people who would have no bloody idea (myself included) and he has done it whilst having a bloody good laugh at himself. Not only has he shown how bloody hard it is to make a living off the land he has expertly highlighted the problems farmers face from Nimbies and biased councils when trying to diversify to make a living (which is exaclty why he went for the restaurent planning permit, it was an idea from his son).

As for others commenting that he is somehow anti woke, well, so am I, at least to the extent where the ultra wokes demand utter allegiance to their world view or you are deemed not worthy of breathing, good on him and others like Gervais and Dawkins for calling this bullshit out..

Each to his own.

I caught a bit of an old Top Gear recently. I used to love the programme. But there was a whiff of something from Clarkson I didn't like, something I had perhaps chosen to ignore at the time.

So I'm going to keep him on ignore, along with other 'flawed' but interesting characters, such as Joey Barton, Gervais himself (and Dawkins, the pompous arse), Noel Edmonds, David Icke and so on.

Moving on....I note you note that 'others' call Clarkson 'anti woke', and then you started a rant about what 'wokes' want. Why on earth are you interested in the demands of sad arts students from former polytechnics? I have never met a 'woke' and am never likely to. Perhaps you should try harder to ignore them.

None of this of course detracts from the fact that Clarky's Farm may well be an interesting and educational TV programme, bringing the countryside into the sitting room of townies who never knew where food comes from, or how expensive it is to be at one with the land. Doubtless, for Clarky, a Bafta awaits. But alas, I shall not be tuning in. I don't like oafish bullies, even if they are delightfully contrarian.
