I talk to Chris Cattlin every now and again on Hove seafront as he’s friends with a couple of dog walkers I know. He’s an absolute gentleman, still very switched on and obviously watches us. He made the observation after the Wolves game that he was far more annoyed with the supporting runners being in a straight line when they should have been staggered, than Weiffer’s pass itself.
That was my comment when everyone was piling into Weiffer, no one gave him a better options and why were so many bombing forward anyway at that late stage of the game.

Surely at some point Chris should be made guest of honour for a game, and if we have anything about ourselves he should be given a standing ovation with everyone in the stadium.
Giving this comment a like just didn't seem enough.

Fabulous idea. We should do it like we did with Pascal. There would be a similar reaction.

You can see the genuine affection that the old players have for him.
Will always be grateful he stopped us dropping down to league one. Got us promoted to the Premier League with an incredible brand of Championship football. Then knew what was needed, even if it was dour, to keep us up crucially in that first season.
Thank you Chris

Spot on.

We talk about Potter, RdZ and FH, and their wonderful achievements, whilst (successfully) attempting to play expansive, exciting football, but none of this would be possible without those first two seasons, and like it or hate it that crucial point at Wolves….

Needs must, no problem for me…..

I also then enjoyed the 4-0 demolition of Utd under GP
The Arsenal 3-0 under RdZ
The Liverpool 3-2 under FH…..

……….. blimey, I hope we keep Mitoma!
(Random I know)

Do we know that hasn't been offered to him? Maybe it has and he turned it down.
There was a guy in here who used to work with Chris (can't remember his username) who might be able to shed some light on that...

The parting of ways for each was substantially different, I wouldn’t be too surprised if there was still a little bit of ill will. But then again CH is probably too much of a nice guy to hold a grudge.

That being said, the second half of his final season was a painful watch indeed…

This. I couldn't stand the way we played, but in hindsight, with the experiences of so many promoted clubs who have gone straight back down, I think you may be correct with this assessment. That said, the second season in the PL was beyond dour, and if we had kept playing like that, I would have preferred we were back in the Championship, but his tactics did keep us up. I am trying to think back to what improvements potarse had in his squad that allowed him more expansive football?
