the most cringe-worthy bit was watching Mourhino slide to his knees when Chelski scored...with a suit on. It was like something out of a cheesy American Football movie.

I didn't have a problem with that at all. For goodness sake, his side had just snatched a last minute equaliser, against Barcelona in the Nou Camp which all but assures their qualification for the second phase. I think I might possibly have shown just a smidgeon of emotion at that point too.

but sliding on your knees is NOT an instinctive release of emotion :lolol:

he blatantly did it to wind up the Barca fans

I was very disappointed by Drogba, who went back to the play acting Drogba of last season. shocking display. some very good goals though, and an entertaining game

Totally agree. There were several occasions when he could & should have been yellow carded and, if he had been, wouldn't still have been on the pitch and wouldn't have scored the equalising goal! If only....!!

Yes, players on both sides were guilty of theatrics.

Yes, there were a few poor challenges.

Yes, the ref was a bit weak with let things get a little out of control.

Yes, Puyol was an arse.

BUT....it was still brilliant. The most absorbing match I have seen on TV this season.

Astonishing goal from Lampard too, who had his best game in months.

Agreed - perhaps I'm getting very cynical, but I just took in all the playacting as part of the "show", seeing which team was better at conning the ref.

The only cringeworthy moment I thought was Mourinho sliding around on his knees at the end like he'd just scored himself. Admittedly I don't like him that much these days and others might have found that entertaining "passion" etc.

Edit, wrote that last bit before seeing Dwayne's post, there you go.

Yes! He was once desrcibed as "a breath of fresh air" but is more "a bad smell!" Can't stand the arrogant *****!

and being Portugese it was obvious they LOVED it

Pure theatre for me, I love seeing him lose but last night I was really chuffed to see Chelsea equalise. Must have a split personality as in every other game against Barca I've wanted the Spaniards to win

I fully got the impression that both sides weren't even playing to the fans, but putting on a show totally for the ref.
What kind of ticket he must have bought, to have been the only important person in the stadium for half a football match!

The whole facade changed little in the second half, except the players then seemed to be ignoring the previous refereeing decisions by keeping up the playacting, the niggling, the snide fouls and etc etc. For the few moments where they decided they'd better do something with the sperical object, they looked like they might actually be football players! Still not as good as a reasonable 2nd Division game though, in the end.

As already mentioned, the FA will do nothing and both sides will probably prosper to do that crap again. I hope neither side goes to the final.

Think he's done some pretty amusing and irritating things in his time but the recent weeks have seen him become a caricature of himself, he is regularly picking on people less powerful than himself. A journeyman footballer like Stephen Hunt, now his comments on Gudjohnsen befre the game, picking on a player who served his club loyally just to destablise the opposition with a few mind games. It's panto villain stuff it's so crass. And past its sell-by date for me at least.

But at the end of the day, football is entertainment, and that is exactly what he provides. He is like the Eubank of Football. Everyone loves to hate him, BUT he is very very good at what he does.
