Premier League owners (unlike those in the EFL or under UEFA rules) rejected proposals to exclude real estate and other intra group profits. Rules are farcical and PL does not help itself in terms of its opposition to IFR by having such an anaemic rule book.

Yes, but I thought there was some over-riding principle that clubs had to act in absolute good faith? I guess when you've got the likes of Chelsea and City to deal with, expecting them to do ANYTHING in good faith is a non-starter.

Were the names of the 9 owners who voted against closing the loophole ever published? I think we know one of them, and can guess a few, but it would be interesting to see.

Surely this is the end of PSR?

All clubs can follow this example now.
It's not new though - in previous years they have sold two hotels and part of the training ground in Cobham to themselves! My only hope is that as time goes on they are running out of things to sell - although presumably this is why they only sold part of the training ground, because they plan to sell the rest to make up the deficit in coming years. Wonder if they could sell the academy?

Not where I want
If there are any NSC subscribers interested in directly influencing change, DCMS is presently advertising for a Deputy Director of their Policy Unit which covers (amongst many things) football regulation. You should be able to find the role advertised on LinkedIn, closing 7th April. It will of course also cover many other interesting areas such as media, gambling, other sport, culture heritage etc but it would be great to have one of the great minds from NSC in this job!

Bang! And the dirt is gone.
I wish Chelsea and City would f#uck off to a European Super League, and soon. What is the point of being affiliated with the Premier League if your MO is developed on circumventing the rules of the game that everyone else seems to have to abide by? It is utterly underhand and disrespectful. Why be a part of a group you have absolutely no respect for? Will an independent regulator rewrite the PSR rules so that they make the 'spirit' of competition meaningful and enforceable? Because at this point, the rules are worthless. I assume some Chelsea fans are laughing at this, but it damages the integrity (lol) of the whole pyramid and professional football's long term financial sustainability. No further questions. Ffs.

So any club could buy a row of lock up garages for £100k then sell them to the club's owner for £100m and show it as a profit ?
That's ridiculous.

What's the point of having rules if they can be so flimsy that something as so blatant a f*** you to them as this is is possible?

It's pathetic. Why bother with the pretense at all?
So you can pick and choose which clubs you get to deduct points from, of course. It's all perfectly sensible.

Forest and Everton, not too much damage there.

But you can't have a system which inhibits Chelsea from having unlimited funds in which to plunder what they want from teams like Brighton every summer, do you know how many twitter followers they've got?

Taking advantage of your expertise if possible, do they have to sell them to themselves at a fair market value? I see they rated their women's team as the second most valuable in the world. And can they do it more than once? i.e. simply sell the hotels, team etc to another part of the company ad infinitum.
