If someone could find those McGhee quotes that Robert Lester Zamora put on here a few weeks ago comparing Oatway and Nicolas, I think it would be quite instructive.
I hope it won't be too long before Bozza restores the search option, it's a pain in the arse not having it.
My point is, we have on loan a player from a premiership side who you would expect to be head and shoulders above those around him. Compare and contrast him to other loanees we've had in midfield such as Lewis and Steve Sidwell - they made a difference. He doesnt. I feel we are wasting an opportunity by playing him and dont really see what he adds to our team when we could have a loan player of a higher stature that brings something more positive to the side.
Granted he is inexperienced, but what we DONT need now is someone learning their trade. We cant afford to give him a chance, we need someone producing the goods now and making a POSITIVE difference. Im not putting the fault of our results at his feet as its clear we need something more up front, but he isnt HELPING.
Someone said he never gives the ball away, well considering he never passes it more than 10 metres that isnt really an achievement. I dont think he makes/wins many tackles, his anticipation is poor and the other teams are literally walking round him on occasions. Whats the point of having someone sit 5 metres in front of the defence, get the ball, pass it 10 metres sideways and then stand still? The defender can do that.
This isnt based on one game either, i have watched him closely in each game and his off the ball game is terrible. He doesnt track people properly and rarely anticipates where the balls going to go so is out of position.
I think becuase he's from chelsea people are looking through rose tinted spectacles, giving him more credit than he deserves. If we'd signed him from someone like cambridge or exeter he would have been slated now. Watch him closely, you'll be dissapointed.
Of all the new players the only one i think should currently be in the frst team NOW is Currie. Jarret promises great things but what has he actually done. Nothing - bit more match practice in the reserves though and some decent coaching and he is definately one for the future. Molango - oh dear, please have another shot before christmas. I think we desperately need a 'big lad' up front and an effective midfield partnership - bit obvious but there you go.
