Injury not as bad as first thought and should be fit for Wigan if not sooner!!!

Not all bad news then, it'll be good to have him back on the bench for Wigan just incase Reid or Nicolas get injured.

We seem a bit thin on the ground in midfield so good news about Charlie.

Be glad to see Chippy back soon as well.
We could of done with his free kicks at Reading

Like to see Chippy and Rodger back as a higher priority than Charlie... latter should be a squad player only IMHO...

I have a feeling Rodger isn't going to make it back - at least not as a permanent fixture in the side. Didn't he say he was going to give it a couple of months then quit if his knee wasn't up to it?

Charlie is always first to get a roasting when we lose but he does his job well. He's a grafter and a terrier and a character. He's done a brilliant job for us over the years and it's only when he's expected to ping the ball about like the playmaker he isn't that he's come unstuck.

I'm on record as stating I don't think Charlie is good enough for this division, but I must admit he was doing a bloody good job for us on Saturday before he picked up his injury, and the team suffered when he left the field. He was doing what he does best - getting in amongst it, putting his foot in and breaking up their rythm. Once he has the ball, as long as he does the simple things then we're ok, but he still does have a tendency to give it away cheaply to often.

If he can maintain the level of performance he showed on Saturday though, he can do a job for us.

the reason we suffered was because they put hinsh in the middle.
i still dont think he is good enough

Fair comment, but it was a case of needs-must. We didn't have a whole lot of options on the bench to replace Charlie in the middle, and Hinsh was simply not as effective at breaking up their play.

Oatway never has and never will be a creative midfielder who sprays the ball around, but in his limited capacity, he can be effective as a spoiler in the middle of the park. Thats not always going to be enough in this division, but he certainly won't get any grief from me if he plays like he did on Saturday.

That's Dean Blackwell. Rodger seems to be doing ok in training.

I think Chippy will be back by the end of August according to reports I read.

I fear for Jolly and am not convinced he will ever be the player he was after such a long lay off.

Fact is Jolly and Chippy are better players than Charlie... the ability to pass the ball at this level is a bare minimum requirement... Charlie did alright on Sat, but is, I hope, only in the team due to our injury crisis...

Charlie is in the team for a reason, granted he is not the most gifted player he'd probally be the first to admit that. He does a valuable job for the team in terms of shape and neutralising the threat of the opposing teams playmaker. He puts himself on the line for the club always gives more then 100% and never shys away from a challenge, he will alawys have his knockers but i for one appriceiate his contribution.
