Interesting piece in the Daily Torygraph today about wealthy Charlie Gilmour, the public school and Cambridge educated webel "smashing capitalism" before returning to mummy and daddy's £1.4 million mansion in rural Sussex! New photos show the pampered prat trying to set fire to assorted left wing pamphlets (an understandable desire in many ways) by the supreme court, not content with having defiled the Cenotaph.

Of course he didn't realise what the Cenotaph was despite reading history at Girton College Cambridge! You would have thought some of his fellow ex-students from Lancing College, would have informed him at least, or is it a not very subtle attempt by daddy's PR company's well circulated and cringe inducing pseudo apology at damage limitation?

I bet mummy and daddy are choking over their fair trade muesli from Harrods this morning. :tosser:

I drove him once from a friend's house down to Mummy and Daddy's house (about 1997). Thought he was a right little oik then. Dave's daughters were nice though. Stingiest tippers out mind you. Exact fare after you'd lumped loads of Sainsburys bags in. As for Charlie, the Traitors' Gate would be too good for him in my view.

Indeed and I hope they throw the book at him, vandalizing little scrote that he is.

Mr Gilmour was adopted by the Pink Floyd star after Polly Samson, his mother, separated from his father, the poet Heathcote Williams. She married David Gilmour in 1994 and they have homes in London and West Sussex. The musician is worth an estimated £78 million, ranking 861st on The Sunday Times Rich List.

Charlie Gilmour attended £9,000-a-term Lancing College before studying history at Cambridge University.

From said article:
"Mr Gilmour, who is studying history, arrived at the protests on Thursday carrying a red and black flag in one hand and a book of verse in the other. He clambered onto the reinforced barrier protecting Parliament and began reciting Byron and Keats to riot police."

Bell end.

Some irony in the fact that his fees at Lancing College appear to be exactly the same as the maximum cost of tuition fees proposed by the government vote.

Still, good to see him sticking up for all the little poor people. Viva la revolucion, Charlie!

Indeed well spotted! Will he return to Lancing and set fire to the chapel? Nah, his mates Tarquin and Julian would be most upset.

Ridiculous indeed, he should know that most policemen far prefer T.S. Eliot, or indeed Pam Ayres

What is it about Lancing College and the far left toffs it churns out? Here's another one wealthy Tom Driberg, who lived at a mansion in Maldon.

Driberg was born at Crowborough in Sussex, son of Amy Mary Bell of Dumfriesshire and John James Street Driberg who worked for the Indian Civil Service as Chief of Police and Inspector General of Jails for the Province of Assam. He was educated at Lancing College and joined the Communist Party when he was 15. He studied Classics at Christ Church, Oxford (1924–1927) without taking a degree.

During the General Strike in 1925 he worked at Communist Party headquarters and began writing for the Sunday Worker, a communist newspaper.

You're not really calling Charlie Gilmour a 'far left toff' on the back of behaving like a prat?

So that's ONE 'far left toff' in 85 years you can name who went to Lancing College. Any more alumni that Moscow might have recruited in that time about whom you could enlighten us?

Just wondering about the relevance of how rich his step-dad is.

If you're an idiot, you're an idiot - no matter how rich someone in your household is.

erm no not really. we have spent the last 13 years with posh well off lefty former student radicals governing. unfortunately people like him end up as cabinet ministers rather than union reps at the bus depot.

that said theres a rich seam of champagne socialists to mine in this country, its hardly a shock. you could say young mr gilmour is just carrying on a great british tradition of total spoilt smart alecy wankers.

Fixed your post.

Is Gilmour a leftie ? I am not sure about "churns out" - you would need to cite a few more than that.
I think you'll find it does. In the same way that it "churns out" people who spend £91m on a new stadium for this football club.
