I will be canvassing opinion on saturday and I am targetting to get 500 names. Once achieved, I will contact the club.

Instead of asking 500 people their opinions on this why don't you ask those people behind the other bench and see if they'd like to do a straight swap, I'm sure some of them are equally angry at no longer sitting behind the away bench when they had specifically chosen those seats for the location. Everyone wins.
