Good song: Sportfreunde Stiller - Ich, Roque

Die Sportfreunde Stiller feat. Roque Santa Cruz (football player - Paraguay and Bayern Munich), its in German and Spanish, so no problems with understanding the words... ;)

Das Lied ist verdammt gut. :) (is it an English msg board :jester:)

Warning in advance - I probably have the most eclectic taste in music known to man...

Most played bands in my collection (1200+ tracks) are:

New Order*
Orbital*
Feeder*
Bomfunk MC's
Pet Shop Boys
Faithless*
Divine Comedy
Ash

Those marked with * have tracks that sound excellent really, really loud on a system with good bass

Can't stop listening to a song called "Float On" by Modest Mouse

Modest Mouse are a band who don't really do anything unusual or particularly different but it is mega trendy and cool to say you like them. yes?

Um, you've lost me there. Never heard of them until I got over here and not heard anyone else mention them. Their song is on the tv a lot and it's really good. Is that ok?

A good way to build up a record collection is to start with the classics of a genre and go from there. For instance if you think you might like grunge (highly likely looking at you tastes) buy Nirvana's nevermind ( assuming you don't have it). If you like that you could buy try out some other big grunge bands, e.g Pearl Jam - Ten, their first album is a good stating place , Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins. If you like that try some of the more obscure stuff like Mudhoney or the Screaming Trees.

After that try looking at the artists that inspired grunge. E.g. The Pixies, Husker Du or Neil Young.

Another good idea is to look out for "top lists" in magazines. Albums like the Stone Roses get voted high up in those things because they're genuinely good.
