Dark Star Brewery's second freehold pub, the Duke of Wellington in Brighton Road Shoreham (on the coast road just before Shoreham High St, near the Adur Council offices) opens tonight. Starting a new career as a pub landlord (a vocation, I'd say, in his case) is our old mate and Albion programme editor Roy Chuter aka Not So Slim - I 'm sure many on NSC would like to wish him all the best! Party to celebrate with reggae from Andy Baron and Prince Ash....hope to see a few of you there!

Blimey Charlie, The Duke of Wellington in Shoreham. I spent most of 1990/91 in said ale house. It was only open during the evenings in those days as I vaguely remember.

We were lucky lately to get Wed, Fri and Sat nights after it opened from rehab...

Dolly Dagger were the obligatory First Fri of each month....with a few dreary local bands every other...

Brilliant. What great news. The cycle track from Steyning will take some additional traffic. Mind you - got to get past The Red Lion first .......................

mind your head ...

Best of luck to Roy, I once spent a particularly drunken evening in the Linden Tree with him, asking him who the hell he was every 15 minutes. He kept answering politely, to his eternal credit.

Good luck to Roy. Roy's still known as Sumo to me and Patch from schooldays at Kings Manor in the 1970s.

I'll make a visit to the Duke of Welly next time I'm in GOSBTS.
