From tonights Argus (I've had to bloody well type this)
Albion manager Mark McGhee today played down the possibility of making Scottish centre half Gary Caldwell his first signing of the summer.
McGhee confirmed a report that he is interested in the 22 year old, who is expected to decline a long-term deal with Hibs.
But with limited funds available to strengthen his squad for the coca cola championship, McGhee wants to set most of it aside for his strike force.
Mc Ghee said:
"Gary Caldwell is one of the players I am considering. I have spoken to his agent, but I would say it unlikely we would sign him. He is a footballing centre half who would give us the option to play with three centre backs if we wanted to, but I am not sure we can afford to commit any of the very little money we have on anything but strikers"
