I, like 99% of people on here, have no idea if DB was doing a good or a bad job. I accept the end product was not good but only a few select people have any idea of how he performed.

Quite often we see NSC at its finest. In my opinion the unedifying witch hunt surrounding David Burke by people who had no knowledge of what he did or how he did it was an example of NSC at its worst.

Do you honestly believe that David Burke has been sacked because of a witch hunt of some posters on NSC?
How ridiculous, I believe that TB had a greater respect for Hyypia than many on here and refused their calls for his head. It is more likely that the combined moans from Poyet, Garcia and Hyypia finally brought it home to TB where the fault was and he dealt with it in my view.

There are a few stories that might come out now about Burke and his role over the last couple of years.

Got to be favourite now? I have an open mind. I prefer him to Pulis and Hughton.

Sherwood could not get the formulae right at Spurs. Chopped and changed a bit and could outwitted by Premier League managers of vast experience and better players. I think Spurs loss would be Albion's gain if it occurs. I don't rate the style of their current Manager, the heavy pressing game tires the players too much. Same applies to Rosler.

I think McDermott is too old.

I'm afraid l couldn't disagree more. I would prefer either Pulis or Hughton over Sherwood. They both have experience of getting teams promoted from the Championship, and apart from his brief stint at Tottenham, Sherwood has no managerial experience at all. With the position we find ourselves in, we need to hit the ground running.

And as for Sherwood's successor's passing game tiring the players ... poor players!

Yes. Do you believe otherwise?

No, I have no idea. I have no insider knowledge at all. Care to say why you know it?

On the face of it, it seems a bit unfair to credit all of the good signings under Poyet to him, but then to blame all of the bad signings this year on Burke. Couple of good bits of business during Oscar's tenure as well, who did those?

Interesting, presumably instead of being sacked he could have had his remit drastically reduced, as others have pointed out the academy stuff was good work.

Also presumably he wouldn't have been sacked had Hyppia, not resigned?

Anyways this is a good thing!

Which of the 25 signings made after Poyet left do you consider good bits of business?

i have been of the view that DB was getting a hard time on here without too much evidence (i.e. what budget was he given) but if TB thinks he hasn't performed then thats good enough for me.

All about opinions. I would prefer the other 4 you mentioned to Sherwood.

McDermott is only 53 (younger than Pullis and Hughton.

I am not endorsing Sherwood. Just think he is now a bookies favourite.

McDermott is just about in the age frame. Pulis and Hughton are non-contenders in my book.

Sherwood, I just don't know. I would not be opposed. The Spurs was a difficult job.

No, you are right, there are grey areas. Just saying that Gus had more say in recruitment than either Oscar or the hapless Sami. When Gus left, Burke took more of a lead in recruitment. He (Burke) has made good signings, obviously, but this summer must have been the last straw for Tony, and rightly so. Add to that, we NEED a manager, rather than a coach, and that makes Burke's POSITION untenable.

Upson, Ward, Stephens (until injury, don't spose Burke did the medicals!), Stockdale starting to look decent. Not trying to argue he's got things right because he clearly hasn't, no-one is over the moon with this season's squad. I have no idea of the intricacies of the roles between managers and Burke and how they might have shifted, but to someone not in the know (like 99% on here), it seems a bit convenient to draw a line and say the others were all Poyet's. I'd say the obvious shift in what we are willing to spend on fees and wages seems to have made as much of a difference.

Has he gone yet?

HR have conducted his exit interview, he's cleared his desk, and Security are escorting him off the premises as I write.

I don'd disagree, if you look at my initial post on this thread I said I was cautiously optimistic depending on who now gets the money and what it is spent on. I am just unsure the status of our current squad can be overly pinned on Burke.

Upson was a Poyet signing and you then come up with three, two of which I agree with out of 25, do you honestly think that is a good ratio and value for money.
As for the money this squad is the most expensive the club have ever had in wages at a time when David Burke told everyone individual wages for players were down by 25%

According to the photoi just saw Pulis has been at the Amex, may make sense. My friend who's showed me from his friend in the media is involved with the club. Doesn't mean he will be boss, but nice that he's even in the frame.

Burke mainly, Sami rubber-stamp for most of them.
