I'm not excusing this kind of thing but you only have to spend five minutes on twitter to know this is inevitable, sadly.

Part of the reason why I've never spent 5 minutes on Twitter.

Almost certainly not, no.

But Mr New Manager may well have his own coaching team with specific and defined roles that could see Bruno sidelined to some degree.

Even setting that aside, given his ambitions to ultimately enter management himself one day, he was offered the opportunity to continue working with someone widely-regarded as highly talented and progressive, allowing him to continue to further his own education whilst also putting a Champions League club on his CV.

Though he had to prove his worth with GP in the first place, he would have the opportunity to broaden his learning from someone else, whilst keeping himself in pole position in the future.

Parking all of that the abuse is very poor.

Clearly if Bruno and his family are receiving abuse then it is totally unacceptable.

What I find bizarre is that the Albion didn't seek to keep Bruno and Roberts on, and it is also bizarre why Potter took them with him. My understanding is that even though Potter took Bruno and Roberts their Chelsea equivalents Anthony Barry and Hilario are still in post.

Hilario is still listed as goalkeeping coach, Anthony Barry as one of the 4 1st Team Assistant Coaches along with Reid, Hamberg and Bruno.

Bruno must be the highest paid cone manager in world football.

How do you know the club didn't try to keep them, out of interest?

I'm not sure "cone manager" is entirely accurate. On 5Live's Monday Night Club this week, Dan Burn spoke about how Bruno had assumed responsibility for most day-to-day training sessions the Albion squad went through.

Ben Roberts seems to be regarded as one of the best goalkeeping coaches in the country if not the world. If he is, it's no surprise that Potter wanted to take him along too.

While clearly there was nothing like death threats on these forums, some of the posts were a little unnecessary at the time. There will always be some that take things further than others - maybe this is a lesson for some on here too.

A club statement confirming the above could help Bruno a lot. I can't really see why it would harm the club to make it either, certainly not to the extent that it would be comparable to Bruno receiving threats.

I also hope that Bruno realises that these threats are not a reflection on 99% of Brighton fans but instead a braindead minority.

Hopefully once our new manager and their coaching team are in place all this nonsense will stop.

Agreed…..firstly stating it’s completely unacceptable, and secondly any ‘fans’ found to have done it will get banned

I don't believe that Bruno only joined Chelsea out of charity on their part, and that we wouldn't have assured him he'd be part of any future team here regardless of the new manager

Pathetic if true and any death threats should be taken seriously and delt with like the Arsenal 'fan' from Singapore who threatened Maupay. I hope what ever social platform they're on will be helping the police and if I see any I will be reporting them.

I have reported a number of posts to twitter over recent months ... including graphic pornographic videos where the user has used a trending hashtag meaning anyone could innocently come across it. Twitter reply saying that kind of adult material is allowed!!

I don't know how it works with 'young' users, but if they also end up stumbling across this s*** ... I just don't understand it!

I've also reported what I consider to be homophobic abuse ... nothing happens! I just get a message to say the post didn't breach twitter rules!!! WTF!!

no one deserves for just changing jobs, ridiculous.

however his role was development coach. i dont see why that couldnt be kept on regardless of incoming manager, who dont typically move with more than an assistant? there's no assurance he'll maintain his position at Chelsea either, if their senior managment want some changes in player development, have people in place. sniff a bit of regret or made up.

Online abuse and death threats for a much respected and long-serving Albion employee who decided to change jobs?!?

Firstly, check your sense of proportion.

Then find another club to 'support'.

Not yet, he couldn't. He doesn't see himself as ready for that yet.

One day, hopefully, but not now.

By leaving and getting experience at another club and working with different players, he’s actually giving himself a better chance of returning one day as our manager. He’s now working out of his Brighton comfort zone even if he is working with the same coaching team.

On the subject of death treats etc, anyone making them should take a long hard look in the mirror, hopefully these twats are caught and made an example of. Bruno’s only loyalty is to himself and his family and doing whatever he feels is right for them, he served us well for over 10 years, treating him as anything other than the decent bloke, and legend, he clearly is, is wrong.

For those condemning Twitter, I haven’t seen abuse on Twitter. The post saying they had seen abuse was on Instagram.

Unfortunately social media and anonymous accounts give idiots the bravado to think they can post anything without any comeback. Instagram should be better moderated imo, but like other international media it isn’t.
The prosecution of the youth in Singapore shows the law will catch up with them sooner or later.

It’s disappointing the club couldn’t find something managing the youth as I think Bruno would be a great role model for them. Having said that, I’m not aware of any roles available.

I don’t think anything the club could have offered would have stopped him going at this point in his career TBH.

Assuming we are all on the same page (Death threats should be immediately reported to the police/abuse unacceptable) May I ask if the Op has provided any factual/verifiable evidence of the claim in the first post on your site as some VERY serious claims have been made?

Part of the reason why I've never spent 5 minutes on Twitter.

I do find twitter useful in some respects ... but I use it in a very restricted way. If anyone random starts following me I block them. That's not what I'm on twitter for. I have 6 followers and I only follow a small number - less than 40 - of which most are companies where I can actually get quicker answers on things (trains for example) than phoning.

I follow a few of the well known news broadcasters/journalists - but also I follow a couple of people that are politically diverse to me but I trust them and therefore read what they have to say to get a different perspective.

I hate it ... but I do find it has its uses ... as long as I maintain a strict control over it!

utterly disgusting if that's the case, regardless if bruno wanted to leave or not. though I doubt this post would get through to the people actually sending the threats, unfortunately. obviously people with a very distorted view on reality

Any abuse is unwarranted and should cease.
However, actions have consequences and when you are a relatively public figure and recognisable and contactable by a large number of people, it's likely that a small number will abuse you if you upset them. It's not right but it happens. It was entirely predictable.
As stated above he could cease using social media. Living in Brighton makes direct abuse a problem (I am not sure if this has actually happened).
My personal opinion is that he should have shown the club more loyalty than he did and on balance it is probably the wrong move for him. I do see that its not a clear cut decision. Again he will have to live with the consequences of that decision.
I do feel sorry for any of his family impacted by this.
