My wife suffers from a severe form and last June her tendon snapped. After 2months in plaster and further 2 in a support boot she is now gradually getting around but struggles with driving and is in constant pain. Surgeon says that it may never be 100% and could take up to 2yrs for the pain to go!

Yes I did it around 20 odd years ago and it is still stiff in the mornings...( ooh errr missus) Doesnt really hurt anymore, however I can't wear anything that is high backed, like boots or such like...in fact the only ones I have found I can wear are those hitec walking boots...but they catch every now and again and that bloody smarts

I am just guessing here, but arent your two conditions a chronic one maybe due to a hardening of the tendon, maybe through scar tissue or other etc, from an earlier bout of tendinitis.

Generally footballers who suffer from it is generally through repetition movement and of course can rupture, but more just inflammation that can be managed.

Yes I have quite a bit of scar tissue going up the back of the tendon and above the ankle. I was offered an operation to repair but it was suggested that it may not be successful. My only really crap thing I get is my hamstring on my right leg is shorter due to the injury so I have to warm it up before attempting to play sport or work in the gym.

It is extremely painful condition that if left untreated can lead to crippling effects.
Voltarol, Ibuprofen, Naproxen and Celebrex can take the pain and swelling down didn't for me though !!
