Incidentally Hendrix died in 1970 so I find it hard to imagine he rated this (below), one album by Taste, the sum total of stuff Gallagher had released in the US by 1970, as better than Hendrix's own lifetime output. There may be a banger in here, but . . . really? ???

View attachment 170144
I'm almost certain that Hendrix will have seen Gallagher live either in a club in London or at a festival somewhere (pretty sure Taste played the IoW in 1970, also pretty sure Hendrix wouldn't have been sat around watching their set).
I have some doubts that he ever actually said that line about Gallagher being the best guitarist in the world.
I have no doubt at all that if he did say it he didn't mean it literally.

I think the earliest album I can remember buying from Rounder was UFO's Misdemeanour; Rounder was a 'chart shop' and I got a signed copy. This was 1985. I didn't frequent the shop much when I lived in London but returned with a vengeance in 2003 when I moved to Hove. I loved that shop, Jonny and Steve were such lovely and enthusiastic people.

I have always said that when I win billions on the lottery I will re-instate Harrys English Restaurant, Rounder Records and pay for a tram system in Brighton. I have spent considerable time developing this plan; The Super Furry Animals will reform and perform Inaugural Trams at the opening ceremony.

I loved Harry’s, they kept that simple menu the same throughout. The tallish waiter/barman (your age) opened a deli near us in Eldred Avenue. Daily customers include Muzza and Paul Hayward.

Trams, I’ve thought for 35 years that a tram route from Shoreham High Street to East Brighton via Church Road and Western Road would be an amazing success. Commuters, shoppers, residents wanting to pop into the city all using it for sections. Negating the need for countless car journeys. You’d better than most how urban public transport can work.

Another Palace fan that lived amongst us
Not sure if he still lives in Brighton.
I had a surreal meeting with the Palace scum many years ago. We came out of Hove station and it was pissing down. There were no cabs. Ok Dave my new mate said the Captain, you look after my amps etc and I'll get the beers, which he did. We drank in the rain and said adios. I like him!

When I lived near the 7 Dials in the late 80s he lived in the next street.
Talking of pissing down, he did this to the crowd in front of the stage when I saw The Damned (1980) :lolol:

Bored during a meeting today, I pulled out all my 7 inch singles. Punk (and reggae) singles took my interest from around 76 but I stopped buying singles entirely by 83. Not much American (shit) there ;) Apologies if the past below is too big for your phone. I have blocked each year into alphabetic order. I think that if you squint you can see punk transition into 'New Wave' or (my preferred terms) 'alternative pop music' over time. I haven't listed all the soul music, early 60s trash pop. or any of my massive 12" singles collection. Something for another time. @Tom Hark Preston Park, just shut it, OK? ??? ;)

Seems to me that you are soooo very desperate to be cool. It doesn't work (especially with some of the trash in your list)
What makes you think that? I was trained to never argue motive when attempting criticize other people. You have no idea what I want :lolol:

And why would I seek to be 'cool' by admitting I own 'trash'?

I may be wrong, but think you might be a bit of a twat

Neat neat neat with an original Stiff picture cover in good nick should be worth upwards of a £100
There was a limited run of either the first Damned single with one of the Hot Rods in the photo, or the other way around. Can't remember which. Alas both my sleeves are the conventional ones

Strange thing to say. Sounds like faux modesty to me, or some sort of blurt. Gallagher didn't hit his stride till some years after 1970. Irish tour, 74. And even then....not even the best Irish guitarist for me.

well I certainly wouldn't collate my singles, that is just crapsville and v needy
Not if you're autistic, it isn't. Or if you're thinking of flogging them. Or simply feel like making a list.

Passing snide comments about my doing so, though, that, in my opinion, is being a twat. Other opinions are of course available

It is decidedly more interesting than 77, isn't it.

(Neither year match my favorite of years 20+ ago though: 1983; for albums and 12" remixes rather than 7" singles, obvs).
