Thought this was a bit much from a parking attendant, nice to see good service at the Amex though.

Not brilliant to be honest but because of the location I'm not sure what they can do.
My wife struggled with the walk up to the ground - 700 metres is a long way but in clement weather it is just do-able - in rain or snow she would not be able to walk it.
Returning in crowds it was exceedingly difficult as people are obviously in a hurry and she felt she was going to be knocked over at any second.

The practical answers in my own hands are to use a wheelchair which would present a possible problem once we get to the ground as our seats are in ESL plus (a) she is reluctant to use a chair and (b) she doesn't want to sit in a labelled and isolated disabled area.
My other choice if possible would be to park up adjacent to the ground even earlier than we currently plan to arrive and escort my wife to Dick's Bar before returning to the car and parking it at the Bridge. Even if possible (and I don't think she would cope with being in a football bar alone for 20 minutes or so) on reflection, post match would be impossible.

I have spoken to the club and suggested that a golf cart could be utilised. I'm not sure how practical it would be though - there are only a few disabled spaces (one row) so not many people but transporting two at a time in either direction..................? Really not sure.

In short I think I will try to work a switch to Bennetts Field either this season or next as the Bridge probably wont work in our circumstances. Not the club's fault but I think they might have been better to have added extra disabled spaces there and not had any at the Bridge. It would mean they could concentrate support (pick up) services in one accessible place - that is certainly going to be my message to the club who, I should point out, actively canvassed my response and any difficulties experienced so they could consider any changes they need to make.


Meanwhile having had a weather warning from the club for tomorrow my wife won't be attending because she can't manage the walk in wet weather.


EDIT: There is no transport to or from Bridge car park and the club have confirmed there are no plans to arrange any for the limited number of disabled spaces

If there is any chance of switching your parking to the Sussex University site (car park 5, by the University Sports Centre), you and your wife would have the benefit of the accessible minibus shuttle to the stadium.

I've a permit for CP5 (or 4 if it's full). I don't qualify for a blue badge but they've given me a parking authorisation letter from the transport manager to go with my UoS permit - it worked fine on Tuesday evening and CP5 was less than half full when I arrived about an hour before kick-off. You may like to mention that the planning application (and hence the approval) stated that there would be transport provided to the stadium from the Bridge C/P for disabled attendees.

EDIT: Going through to home ticket sales on the ticket line and they didn't have a clue (offsite team). Going through to the stadium team and all sorted.

Very pleased with this car park.

Rang the customer service line this morning and I was told I would be able to pay on the gate, turned up just after 2pm and there were plenty of spaces still. After the game I had a pint in the concourse and a pint in Dicks so we were able to have a leisurely walk back to the car and no queue out of the car park. Worth the £11 IMO for the ease. The worst part of my journey was the bloody A27 today, 2 and a half hours to get there from home when usually it would take half that.

Will definitely be parking there next time though. A lot easier than I was expecting.

If you have 4 people in the car works out roughly £2.75 each so not bad if you car share

Im just mildly concerned that pretty much everything went up (beer, pies, programs) and if we go up, then everything's gonna go up bigtime IF the Club genuinely wanted to ENCOURAGE people to use the car park (and not park at Coldean) then they could have priced it in line with our competitors. That's all.
