No as has been confirmed we remain the 5th largest global economy and 2nd largest EU economy.

It seems you have ignored your original premise and my reply, we are the EU's biggest market to sell their stuff to, we buy net 62 billion pounds worth of their goods from them as compared to what we sell to them.

So I suspect there would be some priority to continue to trade with us.

I hope your right.

And so do 64 million other people.

The Greens also supported an EU Referendum at the General Election last year, as did the DUP , meaning that 54% of the electorate voted to have a referendum.

In view of the out vote I've had to update one of my icebreaker questions when I do my first lecture of the year

It's now "What are the FOUR most common lies told by men to women"?

1: I love you
2: I'll phone you tomorrow
3: There will be an extra £350 million a week to spend on the NHS if we leave the EU
4: Of course I won't come in your mouth

The youth of this country won't have to compete with 275000 migrants per year...the premier league is an example of what happens our fine young players, most drop to the lower leagues...

Of course they will. Half our immigration comes from outside of the EU anyway which will be unaffected and Boris or Gove will more than likely agree to free movement of people to remain in the single market. Nowt will change on the immigration front. Arguably it'll get worse with the French no longer stopping people their side of the channel.

Re: EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum petition

This petition was created at a time (over a month ago) when it was looking unlikely that 'leave' were going to win, with the intention of making it harder for 'remain' to further shackle us to the EU. Due to the result, the petition has been hijacked by the remain campaign. Admittedly, my actions were premature however, my intentions were as stated above. THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE OF A LEAVE VICTORY AT THAT TIME!!! Having said that, if it had not been mine, it would have been orchestrated by someone on the remain campaign. However, since I am associated with the petition and before the press further associate me with it I felt the need to better clarify my position on the issue even if it looks bad. I am it's creator, nothing more! The logistical probability of getting a turnout to be a minimum of 75% and of that, 60% of the vote must be one or the other (leave or remain) is in my opinion next to impossible without a compulsory element to the voting system.
I have been opposed to the bureaucratic and undemocratic nature of the European Union as an institution privately for many years and for all of my political career. I have openly and actively lent my support to both Vote Leave and Grassroots Out campaigns - why would I do this if I wanted to remain in the EU? I am genuinely appalled by the behaviour of some of the remain campaign, how they are conducting themselves post-referendum not just with this petition but generally. The referendum was fairly funded; democratically endorsed, every vote was weighted equally and I believe this was a true reflection of the mood of the country. To my fellow leavers, now doubting their decision please keep the faith, we will be fine just stick with it. I believe what we need to do now for the good of the country; is get behind the will of the British people, unite, issue Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon and move forward, with the process of leaving the European Union.

I was a remainer but a second referendum makes me a bit uncomfortable. Where do we draw the line ?
When the remainers and SNP get what they want.
Don't know about that. They voted for Brexit.....!
You misunderstand - I mean if Scotland had another independence vote and voted to leave the UK, then the legislation had to be passed, and our MPs simply said no, that's not in England's interests. Do you think that bitch would be ok with that?

Hmmm. Suggesting killing our elected representatives, even in jest, isn't very funny in the light of recent events.
I'm sorry, I can't curb my humour because another politician was murdered. She wasn't assassinated, she was killed by someone whom I understand was not well mentally.

Perhaps they just want independance?
Scotland does differ culturally a fair bit from England, as shown by the vote.
And so does Brighton and London - so we should be independent too? All the countries in Europe differ culturally, so they should also be independent - no wait, that's not what the SNP want

We had a referendum on that in 2011 69% of our enlightened electorate voted no...

Which just seems to indicate that when we have a referendum our lords and masters in the Westminster bubble don't get the answer they want. Perhaps we should have more referendums.

Outside EU numbers are falling, the French may well not see the need to yes that is a genuine possibility....but over time laws will be bought into force that off set the need and desire to come here.....knowing there is no free ride or prospect can be off putting.

Oh dear. Brexiters getting more and more uncomfortable, nervous and aggressive as it starts to become apparent across all major news sources that no government in any form wants to initiate article 50 and very likely the referendum is now going to be vetoed. This could turn for the better after all. Fingers crossed, it becomes more likely by the hour.

It will take years to sort out the situation with legislation. Whitehall will be busy for a long, long time.

Looks that way. Just as well, just more right wing gloating.
Lol..... seeing that vast tranches of Keave voters were labour voting northerners I think you may be a bit ill informed...
