Well, if a distinctly right wing site says so, then who can argue.:lolol:

Yes it is.... Here is the general low down according to wiki:

According to journalist George Monbiot, Spiked "appears to hate leftwing politics. It inveighs against the welfare state, against regulation, the Occupy movement, anti-capitalists, Jeremy Corbyn, George Soros, #MeToo, 'black privilege' and Black Lives Matter. … Its articles repeatedly defend figures on the hard right or far right: Katie Hopkins, Nigel Farage, Alex Jones, the Democratic Football Lads’ Alliance, Tommy Robinson, Toby Young, Arron Banks, Viktor Orbán."

It has taken an extreme libertarian view, opposing:

gun control
restrictions on tobacco and tobacco advertising
taxes on sugar and other legislation to mandate healthy eating
all corporate regulation generally
bans on child pornography
legislation on hate speech and anything else that restricts freedom of speech even of the most unpleasant and hateful people
The #MeToo movement, which it claims is misogynistic
The European Union
It has argued that global warming could be a good thing — it has also hosted Bjørn Lomborg, who has tried to negate the problems of global warming by saying that there are more pressing issues, and defended Martin Durkin's climate change-denial documentaries such as Against Nature, which featured contributors from LM. Its anti-environmentalist message also featured on other BBC and Channel 4 programs including Equinox, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Counterblast, and Zeitgeist. It also supports fracking and coal mining.

Spiked has supported Neil Hamilton, disgraced Tory-turned-UKIP politician.

Breitbart has celebrated Spiked as part of a new range of "cultural libertarians" alongside Milo Yiannopoulos, Katie Hopkins, Carl Benjamin, Christina Hoff Sommers, Cathy Young, Bill Maher, Maajid Nawaz, Jon Ronson, and actor Adam Baldwin.

Who would argue with any of that?

The madness of comparing the Brexit Party to the Nazis

https://www.spiked-online.com/2019/07/03/the-madness-of-comparing-the-brexit-party-to-the-nazis/

Quite a few people on this thread are in obvious need of getting therapy or a life ....

This is virtually a straight lift of Dominic Lawson's piece in the Sunday Times last week. Lawson was using the old straw man technique of finding something a little strong said by someone on the other side of the argument and then deploying it, often with a garnish of misinterpretation, to make some point or other. As I recall, he also said he was furious about a remainer criticising Widdecombe for comparing Blighty with escaping slaves and the European Union, by extension, to slave traders. No criticism of Widdecombe for her wild accusation of course.

PS Are people comparing the Brexit Party to the Nazi Party or are they pointing out that their propaganda techniques sometimes have something in common? If it's the former that would be disappointing in my view. If it's the latter, well they have a point.

Oh dear, oh dear. I must admit I hadn't heard of 'Spiked' anymore than I'd heard of 'Country Squire Magazine' many moons back when pastafarian posted a link to an article from it. This is a comparable moment to that, but not quite as funny.

Some of them really do read some very weird stuff - links to Breitbart, RT and Sputnik News, to name but 3, used to be posted quite frequently on here once upon time. I think you can start to see why some of them believe in paranoid conspiracy theories.

The thread has veered a little (ha) off course, but I think it's always worth pointing out from time to time that one of the most prolific posters on here calls himself Das Reich and posts links to very, very dodgy youtube channels. That lead to a discussion on what some of us see as very worrying trends in the world today, not exclusively connected to Brexit of course, but it's supporters (on here) continually deny/ignore their existence.

I seem to remember you saying that May's government was 'far right' but then again most of the regular remainers on here lost all sense of perspective years ago. Unfortunately, it's often the case that those that are in the grip of a condition/disorder don't realise how unwell* they are.

Finding something a little strong said by someone on the other side of the argument and then deploying it, often with a garnish of misinterpretation is the modus operandi of those suggesting we are on the path to fascism.

But, back to the point (you remember, Brexit). Still think we are leaving on October 31st then ? :lolol:

Wonder what it's like when they are not online. Imagine having to live with it. I bet their partners are thoroughly sick and tired of it lol.

I like to think they become less tiresome and needy in their real lives, unfortunately, it's probably the case that some partners welcome the break when they are on NSC.

We must try to understand them and feel compassion for their condition, hopefully, the start of the season will serve as a much-needed distraction.

For me to still think something you must (as someone who has the time to trawl back through thousands of posts) be able to find a quote where I said we would leave on October 31st .....

I think you may be getting a little paranoid, worrying about things that you have said in the past

It's a simple enough question. You'll have Johnson, your Brexit supporting PM in place, so you can't use the excuse of a Remainer PM anymore. What could possibly go wrong.

So do you think that we will be leaving on October 31st ?

Or, if you find the question beyond you, you could always log off, ignore the question and hope it goes away

This is a thread that keeps on giving. Amusing to read the hysterics from the remainers every time I'm bored.

As I said to another of your numbskull friends (who seems to have run away since), I know people who will be personally impacted to a massive extent by Brexit, including one whose mother may not get access to vital medication. If you choose to regard that as "hysterics" then I guess that speaks much to your empathy, or apparent lack thereof.

And the same applies to you.

And you.

Before The Footy Genius threw his lot in with Ann Widdecombe, Nigel Farage, Richard Tice and all the other oddball saddos in The Brexit Party that represent him and his values best, I recall him assuring me before the 2017 General Election (You know, the one where the Tories were 25 points or so up in the opinion polls) that ONLY The Conservatives could deliver Brexit.

Over 2 years on from that and you know you wont get an answer from him. All you'll get at best is straw clutching and possibly a link to the Guido Fawkes blog site. Personally having had a quick, late lunch at McDonald's today, I'm not surprised in the slightest that the straws for drinks are now kept behind the counter and issued on a drink-per-customer basis - it stops the like of The Footy Genius nicking them all .
