I have to say, I've given up being fazed by this anymore. People stick to the rules, keep their end of the bargain, and then government mismanagement ruins it for everyone.

Genuinely what's the point. So many countries are virtually back to normal, meanwhile we can't even have a leader who shows up on time when announcing the next wave of restrictions. This year has been one blow after another, each one more avoidable than the last.

So to protect my sanity I've simply decided it's not worth caring about it anymore. I'll follow the rules, or at least protect my family to the best of my ability, but the whole thing is so draining.

So what countries are “virtually back to normal” that aren’t islands or have less than 15 million population?

But the general public would ignore that as well. Are you saying we should've been in full lockdown since March. Sadly viruses don't have or know boundaries

bungle is an appalling communicator, and decision maker,

"i've saved xmas"

"xmas is cancelled, mumble, mumble, bumble, bungle"

Well I have been watching it and they have been non specific about which areas are going into Tier 4, unless I missed that bit of course. BBC just says London and the South East.

They stated that only all Tier 3 will now move to Tier 4. All others stay the same.

‘Rocketing’ that’s just sensationalist news language, hospitalisation have increased by 17% in the last 7 days.

17% increase in a week is enormous......you don’t think that’s rocketing ? Bed occupancy is currently around 90%.......how many weeks of 17% increase can we have before capacity is reached do you think ?

That’s also an average - it’s worse in the higher affected areas. Here’s the line for London.

Anyway - we're hopefully heading towards the later stages now. All that really matters is whether the vaccine (mostly) works. If it does, then things will improve incrementally as February moves into Spring and Summer.

If it doesn't, then we're really in trouble, but let's hope it does. All the political point scoring is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned - it's the medicine that matters.

Glad it's not just me!

Nope, Ninfield which is a stones throw North of Bexhill is tier 2 yet most of those who live there will always shop in Bexhill.

Also living in Ninfield you can have friends for Christmas a mile south you can't, I realise you have to have borders but between tiers 2 and 4 is crazy

So if you live in Pevensey you can get bladdered down the pub then head to the Amex but if you live in Norman's Bay you can't leave your home.

This, The worry is they have known about this strain since Sept and they are still unsure.

He has had hard decisions to make, I agree, but he has got most wrong. His original plan for Christmas was a major mistake as was decision to allow universities students to go to/back to uni especially as the majority are doing distance learning which they could have done at home. Some of the issues go back to Cummings and not punishing him but once the police indicated they would not enforce the law then it was clear something had to be done. Its a state of emergency , employ extra people to enforce the laws not hard, use the military if you have to (it was done in Northern Ireland). Should have put Brexit off until this disease had been conquered.

I get that Cummings is a complete tw@t but anyone that is going to use him as an excuse for breaking the rules was going to break the rules anyway. If he'd stayed put they'd have found another excuse. Unfortunately Cummings isn't the only tw@t out there.
