They have a national anthem?
Just want to point out here that I've never booed the opposing teams anthem, and I didn't boo the UK anthem at Cardiff back in May.

I don't boo opposing anthems either!

I also do not understand why we have "God Save the Queen" against another British country!

Totally agree - isn't our queen Scottish?

:lolol: Doubt if we want Deutschland, Deutschland, uber alles though. I reckon you should always respect another team's national anthem irrespective of what you think of them.

Why can't we just sing the Sex Pistols version of it!

I don't even agree with having monarchy!

When was the last time we heard from the Queen, she seems to be very quiet recently?

Ist das der glorious song fur das ubermensch jetz?

I thought that was replaced by some post-war southern-softie tuneage. Perhaps I can make ein comeback...... Fifth Reich anyone?

What? Please explain,

Why did the singer do both the Tom Jones number & The National Anthem ? I thought he was a taff.

No, they just removed the Nazi verse. Its still Deutschland Uber Alles.

Fifth Reich = The EU.

High up on the South Downs.
Yeah lets be nasty to the Welsh, the Scots, the Irish, the Germans and the French.
But don't say anything unpleasant about Nigerians or Saudi Arabians as it would be totally racist and unacceptable in our society. :dunce: :drink:

I don't understand why England fans feel compelled to boo another country's anthem. Apart from being disrespectful, it winds the opposition up. No other nation seems to do this.

It was that and hearing 'No Surrender' that reminded me why I won't go to England games any more.

Oh, and the Welsh anthem contains no references to dragons, daffodils, sheep or leeks.

"Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau."

("The old country for my forefathers, who dear it is to me. It's famous for its poets and singers, but also for its warriors who shed blood fighting for their fatherland. How I'm full of love for my land tha's protected by the sea; let the old language thrive there" is my very rough translation.)

And I thought our anthem was unpronouncable...

Usually most people get to "Sinne Fianna Fail" before droning off into mumbles. Wonders of having an anthem in a language you don't speak....

I was impressed by the Welsh fans' response to a very loud "No Surrender".

An even louder rendition of Max Boyce's "Hymns and Arias".

And did anyone hear the the ultimate expression of English arrogance? Taunting the Welsh with chants of "Are You Scotland in Disguise?"

Sometimes I'm just proud to be ... half English, a quarter Scottish and a quarter Irish, and to have spent my formative years living in Wales.
