According to many sources the capacity for Bloomfield Road is under 13,000 - with this capacity would they be allowed to compete in the Premier League or would they need to groundshare? I always thought there was a minimum capacity requirment of 20,000

Dont think there is a minimum capacity, just needs to meet safety standards.

All seater is the main requirement I believe. No stipulation on capacity. Technically should we have been good enough, Withdean could have hosted Premier League Football

HAHA.

Imagine Man Utd playing at Withdean and needing a win to take the title

Wasn't Pompey forced to put a roof over the away end? I know Blackpool are in the same boat.

Three sides are all covered seating and they hope to complete away side (which i have sat in) ASAP to give them 16,000 capacity

Apparently they call their uncovered stand the "Gene Kelly Stand" as the fans are often left singing in the rain.

If we didn't have to bl**dy suffer that indignity for so many years, I'd have found that funny.

Pompey's stadium is of similar size, and as mentioned only recently have a cover over the away end (got frazzled there with some fat Geordie topless nutter's a few years back)

Fratton park is over 20,000 isn't it? Big jump from 12/13k at Blackpool

Yeh Fratton Park is just over 20k capacity. Smallest I can recall in recent times (to host Premier League football) is Vicarage Road, which is 19k. All-time, I imagine it's probably Oldham or Swindon?

Blackpool will obviously break all records.

I think the JJB or what ever it's called now is 25,000, although they averaged 17,000 odd this season (lowest in the premiership).

I was shocked to see Blackpool only averaged 8,000 odd this season. 2nd to last WORST in the Championship.

Blackpool will have the lowest capacity in the top league by a golden mile !! 12,555 compared the next lowest Wigan with twice the capacity of 25,138, now that Portsmouth are relegated (20,224)
Lowest capacities in the league are Acc. Stanley (5,057), Hereford (5,075) and Barnet (5,568)
Withdean is 8,850

the dell was tiny wasn't it?

Think it was down to about 15000 once they got rid of the terraces and bolted a few seats in

Blackpool will be about 16000 once they've built the fourth side, which is on the cards now thet've got some money
