Just received the Club's letter responding to the feedback they've had about the moving of the Family Section from Blocks A & B to the old away stand (Blocks T & U).
Without repeating the entire 3 page letter here, they've covered off the 3 main points of concern, namely:-
1) They did not consult with supporters over the proposed change.
It is the role of the board to make these kind of decisions and we are ever mindful of their impact on supporters. the running of the Club is delegated to the Board and, whilst it is impractical to consult supporters on every decision, the new Family Stand proposal is in exactly the same spirit.
2) The view from T & U is the worst in the stadium.
It isn't. That dubious mantle is now held by the new Away stand.
3) Current A & B STH's enjoy the atmosphere where they currently sit which, by implication, cannot be recreated in the new Family stand.
They've had positive feedback from the people who have already used T&U, kids for a quid has been popular, etc. In addition, they are installing another 4 rows of seats at the back of T&U so the capacity will be nearly 1000 seats.
The 2 main things coming out of the letter are that they are arranging for A&B STH's to visit next Friday afternoon to choose their new seats and try out the various viewing positions.
Secondly, there's a small concession for current Family STH's in A&B who wish to remain there in that the Adult price will be £382 (Single Payment) instead of £405 (£411 in instalments vs £432 previously).
Personally, I think this is a sensible compromise. The 'open day' is a good idea and there's a financial solution if people want to stay in A&B.
I don't think this would have happened if we hadn't kicked up a stink though so well done to all those who wrote in, took part in my poll before the Watford game, phoned Harty, etc.
