I listened to him on 5Live this morning. Nicky Campbell thought it was very funny that he could not even bring himself to say the word iPhone. It was a bit like Voldemort in Harry Potter - iPhone, the device that shall not be named!

It's things like this that make me think everyone in PR and comms should hang themselves - or at least hang their heads in shame. Interviews like this are the logical conclusion of their line of work.

I love the way he answers almost every question with "So...."

I heard him this morning on Radio 4 and thought he came across terribly. He was vague, totally ignored the questions asked to get his own agenda across, and didn't seem to be saying an awful lot that was relevant, new or interesting. I know much of it was embargoed until the launch this afternoon, but it's not the best way to represent the company, surely?

I've had Blackberries for years, but am close to getting rid. I really don't know how good Blackberry 10 is going to be, but, based on this guy's performances today, I can't really be arsed to find out. Apple/Samsung for me next, I think.

That has to be one of the most disasterous morning rounds of the studios ever!

Lovely quote on the PC-Pro launch blog

"BlackBerry Messenger now includes video calls. This is going to make organising riots much easier."

Why would you go on 5live to talk about your product, then have to answer questions about a rival company....do get real.

You wouldn't expect to be asked a question about another product that has crushed your market share, and forced you to do a massive relaunch?

Blimey, get real...

He basically said bugger all about the Blackberry either. Just about 'essence' and being 'excited'...

Had he at least acknowledge Apple he may well have found he had more time to talk about Blackberry.

I've noticed this 'So....' business everywhere lately. Where the feck did this spring from?

I hate my Blackberry. Can't load a story from The Argus without crashing. Browsing NSC takes forever. Only good for receiving work emails. Quite like the BrickBreaker game. Must get something better.

Even if he simply said 'I'm not here to talk about the iPhone or other products, I am here for the exciting new Blackberry'.

Instead all everyone is left with is his ridiculous attempts to completely ignore questions.

He knows the market stats..... why would he need to add to the already overpowering Apple publicity juggernaut,... Why eh?..... He was there to talk about Rim and Blackberry, Nicky Campbell adopted a Bozza like blinkered Apple approach, I would go as far to say that NC showed a real bias that the BBC should not do according to their charter. His persistence meant that the BB guy repeatedly lost his thread due to the repeated references to Apple by NC.

I don't like BB by the way, but I don't like Bully's with an agenda either.

Why did he not just dismiss it then? He actually is the one that has made it an issue. Had he just said 'I'm not here to talk about Apple, or any other phone manufacturer, I am here to talk about the Blackberry'. That surely would have been simply enough.

It was daft PR. He's gone on a load of interviews where he's not talking about any of his products features, so what actually is he leaving his interviewers left to ask? Apple are the market leader, Blackberry want to be there. It is a perfectly understandable reference point.

He is very excited though. Very, very excited. It's an exciting time.
