My recollection is that to buy a ticket for the big league Cup tie (v Derby or West Brom) you had to buy them from the turnstile at a preceding reserve game, which meant that about 15-16,000 turned up for a reserve game!!!! Don't know how many people actually went into the ground and saw the game rather than just buy a ticket and bugger off

There may have been more than one occasion, but I have a vague memory that the match was against Notts Co reserves, and that the cup tie might have been against Chelsea? The crowd was above 15000 and some stayed on at least.
There again, my memory is not what it was!

Think that was against Charlton Athletic 76/77. The cup tie may have been against Derby County.

About 2k stayed to watch the game having paid their money , I was in the North Stand that evening.

300+ for Lyme v Chard in the Perry St League at Davey Fort as the Seasiders secured a historic quadruple, I still get the hairs standing up on the back of my neck when I think about it now.

The dull part of the south coast
Wimbledon v Leeds 45,000???

Was this the famous Dicky Guy (Wimbledon goalie) game. He played a blinder. I don't think Plough Lane could hold more than 20,000+/-.

I've got a feeling that the first game (FA Cup) was at Elland Road and the replay at Plough Lane or vice versa.

I seem to remember Blyth Spartans used St. James's Park (Newcastle) on their cup run and pulled in about 56,000, in the 1970s.

Enfield V Barnsley (I think) at White Hart Lane. Only saw the second half as massive queues.

And on reflection Enfield might be my lowest neutral attendance for an FA cup replay at Torquay.
