No one says Ben is ours, he's yours. No one is really answering my question without using the word 'deluded' yet again!! If you thought highly of him why have you never played him. He is clearly better than what you had when you loaned him to Leeds so why loan him out when he is already in his 20s? No one seems to wants to answer this. It's just a question but some are skipping the answer.

Clearly better than two internationals and the season before's best rated CB from the Championship. You know the league you played in and until White was loaned to you had never played in.

There I answered a very simple question for you OK

With all due respect you should your club should not be holding Ben White to Ransom. Lets be honest you didn't want to know him before he was loaned out to Leeds, your coaches clearly didn't see much potential in him and he has flourished under Bielsa. I'm not implying that you should only sell him to Leeds but he clearly doesn't have any desire to play for Brighton. Liverpool or Chelsea etc could get him but is he guaranteed playing time with them? He is guaranteed with Leeds and he is Bielsa's top target and it looks like Leeds will up their offer, but for a team that did not play him a year ago he is now the best thing since slice bread to you.

If I was a betting man I would say that he will not go forward under Potter (unless you think Potter is a better coach than Bielsa) which would be laughed at by everyone and I think we will more than likely end up with him. Well over £20m will be a fantastic bit of cash for him. The only thing that will also break it for you is if White puts in a transfer request which im guessing will happen.

Im expecting you to slag me off with replies and telling me to F-off etc because I don't think many will have any constructive repliesm
Listen son - or maybe I should say 'read' as we're on-line. Your post is literate and 'polite' - even if factually incorrect on many counts, and the politeness is actually fake; you use of 'With all due respect' means exactly the opposite - yes, we spotted that!

Now if you'd posted your pst on Waccoe (it probably would have been rejected - gah! (Too many words, can't read all that without brain-freeze!) I'd have happily come on to Waccoe, and very politely (no swearwords, no derogatory insults) and gone through your post, 'fact' by fact, pointing out where and why they were wrong ........................... possibly even deluded.
Waccoe is solely for 'We are Leeds'. If I posted my rebuttal of your post on there, there would be scweams of outrage from all your chums on there, scweaming for a moderator to come and save them from some sort of heresy which upset them - and the mods would be there in an instant. My post would be blocked and my membership deleted before you could say, "Ben White is Leeds throu ...........................".

Your team may find the PL now a very different place from what it thought it was going to be for you. Maybe you need to put pressure on your own fans' websites to bring themselves into the 21st. century also.

If our coaches didn’t see the potential in him, then why didn’t your lot out in an offer and sign him on a perm last July, or at least put a buy clause into the loan deal?

They did ask - and held out to the last minute - for a loan-to-buy deal. Brighton weren't 'avin' it!

I've just been reminded that an Albion fan (well, okay it was me!) wrote the following "guest blog" about Ben White in July last year for another fan's website - Graham Potter and the Fountain of Youth

If, by all accounts, I had never hear of the lad, I must be something of a visionary!

Chris Hughton’s four-and-a-half-year tenure as Albion manager will be fondly remembered by most Albion fans for many years to come. He inherited a side that was struggling in the Championship and took them to within a whisker of automatic promotion in his first full season. He went one step further twelve months later and then kept the club in the Premier League for two seasons, for good measure. However, there is one thing that was noticeably absent from Hughton’s spell in charge; there were very few first team opportunities for the youngsters developing through the academy, particularly in the league side. This was perhaps most evident when Hughton chose to ignore both Ben White and Ben Barclay and go with no specialist centre-back cover on the bench for three Premier League matches in December 2018.

...

Turning to the defence, Albion have a player who made his first team debut nearly three years ago and who is now the most experienced outfield youngster on the books (with perhaps the highest upside). Ben White joined Albion during his U-16 schoolboy season after he was released by the Southampton academy. He made his debut for the U-18s in 2014. The cultured centre-back (who is also capable of playing at right-back) developed through the youth team and U-23s before making two starts for the first team in the League Cup in August 2016. The following season he spent the campaign on loan at League Two Newport County. He netted one goal in 51 first team appearances and won FOUR Player of the Season awards at the club’s end-of-season awards night; he also won the South West Argus Player of the Season poll. County’s manager Mike Flynn described him as an “outstanding talent” and the best loan signing the club had ever made. He also expected White to go on and earn an international cap.

White spent the first half of the 2018-19 season back with Albion. Ben Barclay (a season older than White) was named in the Premier League 25-man squad but Hughton ranked White ahead of him in the pecking order. White would have started against Southampton in the Carabao Cup in August 2018 but picked up an injury playing for the U-23s a few days beforehand, giving Barclay the opportunity. White was named on the bench by Hughton for the Premier League fixture at Burnley in December 2018 but for the next three matches, when Albion had only two fit-and-available first team centre-backs, the manager chose to leave him (and Barclay) out of the squad altogether. In early January 2019 White went out on loan again, this time to League One Peterborough where he scored one goal in 16 first team appearances.

White has already moved out on loan for the 2019-20 season, this time to Championship Leeds United. The Whites are known to have been impressed by his spell at Newport County and he now has the opportunity to make an impact at a higher level than he has previously played. With the ink barely dry on a new three-year deal, the future looks rosy for the Poole-born youngster.

Try posting that on Waccoe! Instantaneous scweams for a mod - 'He's our player', 'Free Ben White', 'Why would he want to go to Brighton, they never even knew he existed', Thought he was not good enough so kept carting him out on loan', 'Bielsa made him (in about 72 hours before he played his first match for Leeds, winning player of the month)' - and hey presto your account's been wiped from Waccoe before all of those platitudes had had time to get posted!

This really is a great time to be an Albion fan

Can you imagine being told 30 years ago those really tough Leeds fans would one day be making tons of online pics wishing and dreaming for one of our development players to sign for them?
I must admit though, I'm shocked they've then plastered the pics all over the net for the world to see, making it look loud and clear who the big boy club are and who the scavy, desperate, living in the past club are.
No way would I'd ever had guessed the gulf between us both could've got this big! Amazing what one of our U23s can prove.

Begging us with stuff like #freebenwhite in hope it would somehow convince Brighton to let them have White is probably the biggest sign since we've made it to the Amex that we're finally in the promised land. It's made us look so much bigger and better that I almost feel sorry for Leeds and how shit times have got for them to be this desperate.

I think it would be a classy touch if we loan them another u23 for their next season. It'll show them that we are always here if they need help trying to attract footballers. Also, I think we should start encouraging our released players to join Leeds, just so they don't panic when their loan players have to return to their parent clubs?

The words 'delusional' and 'deluded' seem to be popular words.

Ok, any idea why Ben White has rejected two improved offers by Brighton? Can anyone answer this?

If this has happened, it is not surprising and says nothing about where Ben White will be playing this season. Consider the possible motivations of both parties:

If Brighton have made two contract offers, they presumably want to show a commitment to the player and to convince him, through a wage increase that he will be a valued member of the first team squad. They would also be protecting their own interests as signing a player who is reportedly being watched by top four sides to a longer contract would increase his transfer value.

However, the player is being sought by at least one and reportedly more external suitors. While the transfer window is open, his stock is high. If his agent's reaction to any contract offer at this stage is not 'Thanks, but we'll wait and see,' then he is not earning his percentage. If a serious bid comes in, regardless of whether Brighton chooses to accept it, any agent worth his corn will be using this to maximise his client's wage deal either by bidding up Brighton, or by dealing with a club that can offer the kind of wages that Brighton couldn't afford. Accepting an early offer, could close both possibilities.

If he ends up staying, the club's motivation will not have changed and the interest in him will certainly not mean that any further contract offer made to him will be lower than any made at this stage.

By the way, should Leeds keep increasing their bids and get to a figure that Tony Bloom can accept, I would fully expect the big boys to come around waving their chequebooks. If this happens, even if there is any mileage in the Leeds fan spun story of his enduring love for all things Leeds, his agent would then be refusing whatever contract offer you can make and telling you how much Liverpool or Chelsea are offering him, with the suggestion that you match it or lose him.

'Delusion' is being mentioned a lot because your fans are in denial about the hard economic facts of this division. You cannot compete financially for players that the top sides want. This will be our fourth season of TV big money and although we can afford to refuse your offers if we choose to, we also cannot compete if the big boys want someone.

What Brighton fans know and Leeds fans don't is that our chairman's response to this hard fact is to invest in many players at different stages of development. Last season we began the campaign with centre backs Dunk, Duffy, Webster, Burn & Balogun: Three internationals and a couple of players whose performances in the Championship gave reason to think that they definitely could step up. We also had White and Clarke, two players who had excelled in League One, but who had little Championship experience. We also had very good prospects like England U17/18's Haydon Roberts who were probably frustrated at still playing in the U21s league (He played very well and scored in his full debut in the league cup against a full Villa side). This is done because it allows step up and cover as and when players move on.

The frustrating thing from our point of view is that we know full well that, should you have loaned Ben White from someone like Everton, or Newcastle, or even Southampton, you would have fully expected the player to be returning to his parent club once he'd done his season with you. Some of you may be hopeful that you could loan him again, but there would be very little expectation of him leaving to join you unless he was not wanted by his parent club. It's only because we're a '#TeamLikeBrighton' that you have started this 'Free Ben White' pantomime. Well little Brighton, who apparently nobody would choose instead of Leeds have actually got some of the best facilities in this country, have more players out on loan than anyone in the league except Chelsea, have one of the most respected CEO's in British football and a director of football who was tempted away from his previous job as director of elite development with the FA and England Team. All of this has been possible because of the generosity and determination of the bloke at the top. A bloke who could build our stadium without any borrowing. A bloke who doesn't seek publicity, but who is a very very serious player.

As fans, we've lived with the way Tony Bloom does things, so we all know that what will happen in this situation, is only what he will agree to. Pardon us if we view those who believe that fan bluster and internet memes will change this fact as either ignorant or, yes delusional.

For all the Leeds fans sniffing around these forums, trying to will Ben White's transfer into existence, you need to understand a few things:

1. We loaned him with NO OPTION TO BUY. Even your execs have told you this. Now...why would we do this?

2. Take a DEEP BREATH and imagine you had a talented player in your youth set up that you intended to develop gradually until he could play in the first team.
Lets call him Charlie Allen. He's the same age as Ben White when we signed him 6 years ago.
As part of that development you decide he needs some game time, so you loan him out.
The lad gets better and better year after year at different clubs.
Suddenly he puts in a fantastic season with Brentford helping them win promotion to the Premier League.
NOW, do you expect him to come back to Leeds, who have invested 6 years in him? Or should you just give him to Brentford?
Think carefully.

3. This idea that we didn't know who he was is frankly ridiculous. The club gives us constant updates on loaned players at all ages.
Hell, the club gives us detailed updates on the women's team.
I remember when he went to Leeds. I remember your fans HAD NO CLUE WHO HE WAS. On twitter most of you felt there was no way in hell he could replace the void left by Pontus Jansson.
I also remember he did well in his first game. I remember the Leeds fans starting to get excited by his performances.
And I was so bloody happy.

4. Ben White played every single minute of your title winning campaign.
He's a Brighton player who has been in our plans for a long time.
You didn't get promoted before White joined on loan. You got promoted when he joined on loan.
We felt like it was a great, mutually beneficial arrangement.
We were happy. You should be happy.
But nah, let's shit all over Brighton and their fans and make up all sorts of extraordinary loony narratives about the lad based on what? ****ing nothing but speculation.

I've never seen something so desperate. Starting to wonder if Bielsa's contract is conditional on White signing...or anyone tbh. You lads need to get the ball rolling.

5. This is 2020 not 1999.

Anyway, I doubt anything is going to happen until end of August at the earliest. After Ben has been back in training for a bit.

So much wrong with your post, the main one being that you fail to grasp how the loan system works.

Players, good ones at that, have often been loaned out early in their careers to lower league clubs to help them develop. (Kane/Lampard/Beckham) being examples. BHA loaned White to Newport and then Leeds as part of his development.

I'm not going to slag you off, because you're either 12 or not very intelligent.

For Leeds fans hovering in the shadows (which we allow btw, unlike your Stasi-led board Wacko):

Worth mentioning one more time that the "rejected two contracts" spin has been dismissed. Credible sources have explained that he is likely to be in negotiations with the Albion and that there have been two rounds of discussions. This is not rejecting two contracts, this is normal negotiation. It wouldn't be surprising if we are looking to extend his agreement with us, as we just did with other young prospects Alzate and Connolly. This would either lock in our talent for an extended period, or impact any potential sale price (where a longer contract would be reflected in the price). I'd also re-emphasise the complexit of these discusions. It's never simply about a weekly wage. There's lots of good writing about this should you care to seek it out.

I've run businesses for decades and never once had a contract agreed like this:

Me - "We are offering £X for your services for a year. Is that OK?"
Vendor* - "Yep, thanks"

* For any Leeds fans lurking, a vendor is a seller.

anybody listen to that albion unlimted thing tonight? this below was written on WACCOE, any truth?

"Albion podcast (Albion Unlimited) which has a couple of club insiders is broadcasting right now. They just touched on Ben White, and indicated that they thought he'd be sold, although they weren't sure if Brighton would sell to Leeds. Seemed to be the consensus over there though that he WOULD be sold, if not to Leeds then to a top 6 club"

I listened and didn’t get that impression at all. They were just echoing the consensus on here... i.e. a big offer from a big club may be considered, but unlikely to go to Leeds. Both JC & Warren seemed more certain that BW was part of Potter’s plans.

Worth remembering of course that this IS how it works on most football computer games (primarily because people want to use it to do football gaming, not imaginary contract negotiation). Which I suspect is what is colouring the views of many of these fans.
