"Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope."

"Where there is a buck to be made, we shall be there to sell it, where there once might have been hope, now there is certainly only despair "

That would seem to be more accurate today.
Especially given the changes in Disability benefits and the burgeoning need for Food Banks in a country which remarkably still belongs to the G7.

The truly inspirational Baroness Thatcher - RIP

"Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope."

Quote:-

Thatcher's election victory ushered in a period of sustained attack on the Labour movement. Standing at the doorway of Number Ten, Thatcher quoted the words of St Francis of Assisi: "Where there is discord, may we bring harmony… where there is despair, may we bring hope." James Prior, her future minister, recalled: "I was nearly sick on the spot. It was so untypical of Margaret's attitude."

I always feared this day - not because of any great reverence that I hold for Thatcher, but it was clearly going to be a time when people were going to be dreadfully disrespectful.

As such, I've not read a word on this thread and I won't. I have renamed it appropriately however.

Which is your right given you run the site.

However, many of us feel total joy at her demise and don't in any way feel this is disrespectful. I actually think it would be totally disrespectful not to celebrate her death. I hope she rots in hell with her mates like Pinochet, Reagan and McGregor.

I'm curious??....did you go to live in Auckland in the Cons or Lab era?

Have you been watching the BBC tribute? Because if so you would also have noted that the above is a historic quote selected for her by a speechwriter that was so unfitting it made her colleagues squirm. I expect you're far too busy having a crywank though.

You can remain curious, my reasons for leaving the UK had 0% to do with politics or politicians. In short, **** off and mind your own business.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
The have nots always have to blame someone else for their own failures.

I don't blame Thatcher for mine, and nor will i blame her ghost for anything untoward coming my way. I have no wish for anything grotesquely more than i have but knowledge and a spare ounce of unborn courage. I just feel a tad unblessed to so oft having to witness a "society" so built now on greed and a shrinking shared abundance.

She’s been in hell for less than a day and she’s already closed three furnaces ! :)
:) she'll be loving it down there with all those other giants of history who had the courage to follow through on what they believed in...
