Away fans behind the South goal next season...

If away fans are starting in the SW corner and moving along the south as they are needed, then for the vast majority of games, there will still be home fans behind both goals.

The extending of the family area into the NE corner is in fact only 100 or so seats - the majority of the NE corner extension is the north side of the inlet. A family stand is an excellent idea and assures a new generation. The fact it is next to the noisy north is fine. There is a big difference to a foul mouthed football chant than a pissed up bloke standing right next to your little one effing and ceeing.

As for another family stand in S1A. Excellent idea. I assume this will be a pay per match family stand as techincally the current family stand is sold out to STH's. Then if we need these blocks for a 15% cup game, no STH's will have to be moved.

Those in the south currently are going to get first dibs at a new ST. So will have a great choice in the new extended north or the corners or anywhere else. They really won't have anything to moan about.

Seems away fans behind the south goal make it less likely for us to score. With home fans back there we've had a pretty even distribution this season.

Having had a tiny bit more time to think about this, I think the following two changes would make sense.....

Great idea having S1A and S1B as extended family and student discount area, but would it not make more sense to swap them and have the family area in S1A and the students in S1B, so there is a buffer between families and the away fans?

Also the shelf (as it has become known). Do we need another area for freebies? Could this not be sold on a match by match 1901 style hospitality seating? Seems a throw away of revenue to me.

the shelf (good name) is for sale at heavily discounted group prices to schools, junior clubs and youth organisations according to the club's marketing team. Strikes me as a fantastic idea to build future fan numbers

Shove them in the car park and give them a TV. And charge them for the privilege of being in OUR car park!
Or on a serious note, put them out of the way in a corner. Surely South West is out of camera range. European clubs with massive three or four tiers put away fans in the furthest stand from the pitch.
