Away fans behind the South goal next season...

It makes sense considering there are about 5 different segregation shutters in the south stand concourse, that way the club can sell out extra seats to home fans easier

Crap decision if you ask me.

Brighton fans in the poorer corner seats.

The clear advantage of having your own fans behind the goal for the away team.

And when they don't sell out... empty seats in prime TV camera shots.

Whatever the practical reasons for this... it is pretty disappointing.

The current away fans seats in the East are becoming Family Stand II, and The Student Block. They will sell out, and so no empty seats in front of TV cameras.

Next season the west south stand behind the goal will be the last sold to away fans, so sometimes will be available for home fans.

I think the club have got this right, it makes more practical sense for visiting fans to be incentivised to come, teams like Leeds bought better numbers last season and created a better atmosphere too. People drone on every day about atmosphere, this will help massively.

Is there really a proven correlation that corner seats lead to lower away fans attendance?

There are no bad seats at the brilliantly designed Amex.

It is a bit of a mess. Personally I don't see the point of family areas, you just offer cheaper prices for adults with kids all round and do good offers for kids, then you don't need a family area. There's 3 kids sit in front of me in ESU, what's the difference? Also a family area in the NW corner isn't going to like some of the language from the North. The away fans should be in the SW corner as it has 1200 seats and only extend it along part of the south for a big allocation, also all the same price too.

I'm wondering what happens when the initial crop of kids hits adult-age price. Cos its going to happen. Obviously. Do they get to keep their seats with their parents? Do they get kicked out of their seats in the family area and made to go to the front/back of the queue for adult season tickets elsewhere in the ground? Indeed do their parents get kicked out also? Or does the idea of the family stand just pass into history. Would be interested to know how that's going to pan out a few years down the line. Tricky one to manage I'd have thought.

It might have something to do with the fact some parents might not want their kid sitting in the vicinity of some drunk ffing and blinding for 90 minutes. Can't wrap them up in cotton wool but you don't need to have some of the more extreme behaviour right in their face.

Whilst I thought moving the away fans was a good move I actually think it has ruined the atmosphere, particularly at the south end of the West Stand.

Awful decision by the club.

The whole of the South should be home fans. Keep away fans in the south east corner and east lower wings and drop the prices for them.

Moving them in that corner has IMO had a negative impact on the atmosphere- speaking as someone that sits in the WSU wings.

So putting a family area next to the North will not create this situation you describe?

Paul Barber said the decision is based on most Premier League clubs taking a 3,000 allocation , they have to go somewhere. Planning ahead now to stop the inevitable moaning.

who says?

Paul Barber did, explained that Gus wanted the away fans to the side but at the start of the season there was a large number of complaints from Albion fans in the east stand therefore they were moved back to mainly south stand.

Do we lose less seats for segregation purposes by moving the away section? Or is it the same as now. The north will be better with the two corners filled in. Can we charge the away fans more for the seats behind the goal? Can't wait for a 30.000crowd:amex:
