Crofts is not required in my opinion in a side that contains Ince and Stephens.

JFC will get better and better and is a much much better footballer than Crofts.

Give youth a chance and we will be hansomely rewarded.

Sorry, but l disagree with pretty much all three points ...

Until he was injured last season l thought Crofts was one of our best players.
I don't know that Jake is going to get an awful lot better. Maybe League 1 is his level.
Give youth a chance?, yes by all means, but don't expect immediate dividends.

I agree with giving youth a chance, but one word: GOALS!

Unless I'm mistaken, Crofts was our second highest goal scorer last season, and he missed half of it!! Until JFC or Ince or Stephens start banging them in, we need Crofts in there.

GK: Ankergran or Walton

LB: Chicksen
CB: Upson
CB: Greer (c)
RB: Bruno

CM: Stephens
CM: Crofts
CM: Ince (Or CMS with a 4-4-2 formation)

LF: LuaLua
CF: Ulloa
RF: Buckley

Probably too early to start worrying, but a lot of work is needed. AT LEAST 6-7 good players needed to get our squad up to 'competitive' standard.

That team if it stayed fit could be top half.

Keeper would cost us points regularly if its Ankergen

Realistically you might guess this is likely our squad as it stands - some glaring weaknesses but could be worse.

Ankergren (Walton)

Bruno (Calderon)
Upson (Dunk)
Greer (Maksimenko)
Ward (Chicksen)

Toko (Ince)
Stephens (Crofts)
Cole (Forster-Caskey)
Buckley (LuaLua)(March)(Monakana)

Ulloa
CMS (Dickenson) (Goodwin)

Crofts was excellent until he got injured. Energetic and also a much needed goal-scorer from the centre of the park. If people can't see that then we might as well all give up now.

I think our midfield needs more creativity, pace, guile & for God's sake, a player who can take a decent corner, a free-kick and a penalty.

Love the assumptions there.

I think the OP is probably not far from where we will be next season, I can't see a lot of money being spent and the younger players will have a year under their belt. I don't know why some feel that Chicksen is not up for it, he's quick, doesn't allow anyome to go by him and just needs more game time.

Crofts was abysmal the season before that, I think people forget.

Sure he was having a decent season before the injury, but I would much rather move forward with Stephens, who is a much more gifted all round player, and like Crofts gets through a lot of work.
Ince simply has to start along side him, and in my opinion as it stands JFC, we really really have to keep going with these young lads, they will get better and better with games.
March would also be a shoe in for me in a wide position.

'Joe Cole said yesterday:
"At this stage of my career, finance is not important to me...I'm just looking to play football and show people what I can still do".'

A FIT and HUNGRY Joe Cole would be good. He's played very little football over past 3 years though.
