No it hasn't. It hasn't been 'a fantastic honour system' for years. Far too many Sirs and all the other odds and sods of the British Empire - thousands of them - have devalued the whole system. It's been broken for generations.

Exactly. Thousands of 'em! Beckham seems to be a good bloke, and has certainly done alright for himself - but should he be made a Sir? Like many other Sirs before him, the answer's no.

Whoosh!

Modicum of skill? He was a bit better than that - if you happen across highlights from Utd in the late 90s/early 2000s he was unbelievable. Couldn’t beat a man but never needed to.
I remember plenty of England matches where he was the one making everything happen and driving us on.

I’m throughly enjoying this thread. It’s hilarious how frothy mouthed people become at Beckhams’ name. The ranting over something so trivial is hugely entertaining. Please carry on.
If you love trivial ranting, it should be thoroughly and Beckham's. Enjoy wetting yourself, you are welcome!

Ah, so the way to get a knighthood is by writing angry emails to your staff demanding to know why you, with all your, er, quite good football skills and the contributions you’ve made to the advertising industry, haven’t got a knighthood yet?

Righto.

Whenever I see recent photos/film footage of DB I get very distracted by his dyed eyebrows. They seem to be modelled on circa 1990 Trump who had similarly disconcertingly unnaturally dark eyebrows.

Posh Spice is a slapper,
But now we'll call her Lady,
She's married to a Knight these days,
Whose lobbying was quite shady

Needs work.

I've always considered Beckham to be a decent human being (certainly compared to a lot of yobbish footballers who seem to have addiction or behavioural problems off the pitch, and come across as quite unpleasant people), but I've never liked the always scowling Posh Spice - she's got a face like a smacked-arse.

I recently booked a hotel online and the confirmation came back as Sir Peter.

That‘ll do for me, room upgrade likely in the bag for me too!

Absolutely. He was disrespectful to the old Queen by "doing a Trump" and throwing a toddler tantrum by stamping his feet screaming "I want one".

That behaviour alone should have ensured he never got one.

MASSIVELY overated player.
Eveything he does is for self-promotion.
But he isn't the brains behind himself, his wife is a very switched on businesswoman.
Is she? I thought many of his millions had gone to bailing out her failing fashion business?

Yes, here it is

So switched on but a bit toc-h? :lolol:

I think it’s fair to say he had less natural talent than many of the greats of his era, but he more than made up for this with training, practicing and overall professional attitude. Thats to be applauded.

I also remember Seb Coe talking about him and the London Olympic bid. He said he was the London bid team’s secret weapon and how he lit up rooms, everyone gravitated to him and everyone wanted a photo with him. He brought magic and swung the bid London’s way. As ambassadors for the UK, and cultural icons go, he’s at the top

He should have dumped Victoria and gone with that Rebecca Loos….she looks way more fun and doesn’t have a face like a slapped arse.
