Argus: Give Wendy some support

The McGhee paranoia is common on hear so I guess you are swimming with the flow on that one, although less and less now that we are in the midst of relegation battle and everyone can see the problem wasn't the manager.

But what's the absurd level of paranoia regarding Andy Naylor about? He is a local journalist with an excellent reputation in the industry and has done some fine work for Albion fans going back to the days when he was exposing uncomfortable truths about Belotti-Archer. Even know he remains an indepedent voice, calling it as he sees it rather than just parrotting what the board would like him to say.

Your views on him are childish and bizarre.

Your the one who is childish and bizarre, was you around at the time of Bellotti and Archer Days?

How do you know that? I seem to remember him playing quite a few games while Carole was here, sometimes Carole even being left out if we went with one winger. He did make a few defensive errors but at least he did try to defend unlike Carole.

The point is though he looked Championship quality, I would even say he was potentially up there with CKR and Carole as having the best ability in our squad.

I'm not going to carry on making criticisms of Alex, not really my cup of tea. The last 8 weeks really speak for themselves on the points you are raising.

So basically you are wrong and thats your get out post. Fair enough. We were discussing if he is Championship standard and I think those 8 months in the Championship speak for themselves on the points you are raising.

Perhaps you are saying this because you said recently his technique was poor when anyone into football could tell you he probably has the best technique in the squad apart from maybe Cox.

Nothing to do with the fact that he brought in an international keeper that put their best mate FDM's nose out of joint then?

It might have something to do with the fact that they were in the money so to speak last Christmas. One of there gripes was McGhee kept saying he didn't have money and they say that he did, I believe that Chapman was the most pissed off over this.

FDM fell out with McGhee over tactics, FDM and another senior player spoke to McGhee about the tactics and McGhee flipped. The other senior player bit his lip, FDM didn't and this was the start of the bad blood. LK was the nail in the coffin as he deliberately wound FDM up, as was witnessed on the 'coach'.

Now Henderson coming in did most likely piss FDM off, but are you telling me that the Bloom's were willing to pay up 18 months worth of McGhee's contract just to keep FDM happy:rolleyes:

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Argus: Give Wendy some support

As I pointed out in my original post, his piece in The Argus today was (not for the first time) based on f***-all and poorly argued. If you wish to counter that (i.e. give any evidence apart from McGhee's word that the board have not provided funds for players) feel free to do so. If you're just going to get personal and make no allusion to the point, please PM me and we can have a good old-fashioned swear up (ooh, I'm such a barbarian, I know! You'd never guess I spent the aftermath of the Bristol City game congratulating McGhee on the fine job he was doing and thanking him for such great value for the £50 it [didn't] cost me to get there!)

Bad day is it Steve, or just gutted that Wendy got a win under his belt so you cannot bang on about McGhee today?

You're another one who hates Naylor then, Uncle Buck? You buy into this theory then that Naylor would compromise his professional career in journalism, his entire livilihood, just to help McGhee. Very silly.

Congrats for deflecting away from your lack of football knowledge though.

Until recently I actually thought Naylor was a good local sports writer. He is not a Brighton fan so his reports were fairly balanced unlike his predecessor and he knows a bit about the game.

The problem with him since about May is he has been using the Argus to defend his mate, Mark McGhee and his reporting is no longer balanced.

Will you answer my question please, or are you going to totally ignore it like you always do?

Here is the question again you stupid tart, where you around in the Bellotti and Archer days?

You genuinely think we have the funds to compete in the transfer market then and the problem was solely down to McGhee? I think this is an utter delusion, but it's pointless arguing about it, let's just watch what happens over the next season and watch us sign all these excellent players ;)

Of course I'm going to ignore an abusive immature child like you. The persona that you create for yourself on here is among the worst NSC has to offer.

So Naylor doesn't care about his professional independence, his journalistic reputation, his entire livelihood? Utterly facile.

His stance at present is not balanced. He is entitled to an opinion, but it needs to be balanced, not just because his mate got sacked.

Maybe that explains why he is stuck working for a local rather than a national, although when you look at some of the rubbish working or that has worked on the nationals, he must be really poor.

I actually don't know for sure to be honest, but it's an interesting question to ask. I suspect that the Kuipers incident was a catalyst to their boardroom campaign of opposition, the circumstantial evidence on timings and their friendship is very strong.
